As viewers of the movie know, the whole reason that Beast was cursed was because he was a real jerk to an enchantress, who wanted a bit of respite from the weather. However, as the movie goes on, he discovers that there’s a core of goodness in himself that he’d almost come to believe never existed at all.

It’s to Belle’s credit that she was able to work her own particular form of magic on him so that he could see past the darkness in his own soul.

7 Aladdin And Jasmine: Aladdin Went To Further Extremes To Win Jasmine

Some say that the mark of true love is how far one’s beloved is willing to go, and Aladdin definitely goes the distance throughout the movie. One of the reasons why fans adore Aladdin so much is because of how protective he is of his loved ones.

Even though he is one of the most powerful and cunning villains, Aladdin had no qualms in challenging Jafar if it meant Jasmine and her father were safe. What’s more, Aladdin still decided to come back and help save the city despite risking his freedom. Now that’s love and devotion!

6 Belle And Beast: No One Lied To The Other For An Extended Period Of Time About Who They Were

Say what one will about Belle and Beast, but the two of them are pretty honest about who they are from the outset. Belle knows that Beast is a literal monster, and he doesn’t really make much of an effort to convince her that there’s something other than his ugly exterior.

Thus, their love comes from a place of honesty, even if it does take each of them a long time to respect one another. When they finally do, it’s a romance of which magic is made.

5 Aladdin And Jasmine: Overcame An Actual Villain Together

The central conflict in Beauty and the Beast is between Belle’s and the Beast’s respective attitudes. In that regard, it’s a very introspective movie, with the characters spending a lot of time in their own heads.

On the other hand, Aladdin and Jasmine are brought together by the fact that they have to bring down an actual Disney villain. Rather than letting one be the hero, it’s quite refreshing to see a couple work together to defeat an enemy.

4 Belle And Beast: Belle Is A Better Person Than Aladdin

Look, it’s understandable why Aladdin would do some of the things that he does, most notably becoming a thief and a bit of a scoundrel. He is, after all, left on the streets to fend for himself. Although Belle can have a bit of a mean streak herself (like singing about the boring villagers to their faces), she is, overall, a pretty decent person.

It’s quite rare that one would be able to find someone that has her essential goodness and compassion. For her to see beyond the Beast’s “monstrous” appearance proves why she is one in a million.

3 Aladdin And Jasmine: Aladdin Became A Prince As A Result Of Marrying Her

There’s something quite lovely about the ending in which Aladdin finally gets to be a prince. After all, for a good part of the movie he’s been struggling with his sense of self and identity, and not just because he has to be a prince in order to marry the princess. It’s to Aladdin’s credit that he takes this change in status with good grace, as anyone who has seen the movie’s many sequels can attest.

2 Belle And Beast: Beast’s Emotional Death

One of the brilliant things about Disney movies is how they can pull on the heartstrings of the viewers, and there’s no question that Beast’s death is one of the most gut-wrenching scenes in the canon. As he says, at least he will have seen her one last time before he dies.

It’s heartbreaking, especially since Belle only tells him that she loves him once he has died. It’s only the good fortune that she did it before the last petal fell that he is brought back to life.

1 Aladdin And Jasmine: The Carpet Ride

In the renaissance, every good couple had that iconic scene that was a testament to both their love and the technical wizardry that only Disney could produce. In Aladdin, it’s the carpet ride, which is truly an exquisite scene as the viewer is able to witness them express their burgeoning love for one another.

What makes it even better is that they travel over both man-made and natural wonders, delighting the viewer with the astounding beauty of animation.
