Developer Techland has officially announced that Dying Light: Platinum Edition will soon be coming to Nintendo Switch, welcoming the zombie action game to the handheld platform for the first time. Dying Light first released in 2015 and was followed by several DLCs, including new expansions and game modes. Dying Light: Platinum Edition, which includes all previously released Dying Light content, launched earlier this year for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, leading many to speculate on a potential Nintendo Switch version.
Dying Light: Platinum Edition offers players the full Dying Light experience, bundling four DLCs and seventeen skins along with the core game. Those who purchase the Platinum Edition will have access to the Dying Light: The Following expansion, which adds a new map, story, and customizable buggy. The challenging game mode Dying Light: Bozak Horde is also included in the bundle, along with the two additional quarantine zones of Cuisine & Cargo, and Dying Light: Hellraid, a game mode with a dark-fantasy setting.
Revealed by Techland during a Dying Light livestream event, Nintendo Switch gamers will soon be able to get their hands on Dying Light: Platinum Edition for the first time. The reveal highlighted a physical edition of the game, complete with the game cartridge, maps, stickers, a survival guide, and an exclusive game case. The Platinum Edition promises over 100 hours of gameplay, not accounting for fun with friends in co-op mode. Unfortunately, a release date has yet to be confirmed, though Techland promises more details are coming soon.

While Dying Light: Platinum Edition is definitely headed to Switch, Techland hasn’t yet disclosed what changes the hardware’s capabilities could bring to the release. A previous Dying Light Switch leak suggested that gyro aiming, motion controls, and the console’s touchscreen will all be compatible with Dying Light: Platinum Edition, though this has yet to be confirmed. If correct, Dying Light: Platinum Edition on Nintendo Switch could provide new challenges and more immersive gameplay thanks to the Joy-Cons, which could make this version a fan-favorite way to enjoy the game.
Dying Light: Platinum Edition’s Nintendo Switch launch is likely to be planned for this year, though it’s possible that priority will be given to the next addition to the series, Dying Light 2: Stay Human. After what’s believed to have been a troubled development, Dying Light 2 is finally scheduled to release on December 7. The sequel won’t be coming to Nintendo Switch, making Dying Light: Platinum Edition the only way Switch players will get to taste the action the series has to offer.
