Elder Scrolls Online How To Get The Elemental Catalyst Set

The Elemental Catalyst set in ESO is one of the better tank sets for add fights. In recent months, many of the meta sets have become less effective in higher rank groups. Because many of the groups in ESO are magika based, this set fills a nice role for a magika tank.

Players who can pick up five pieces of the set will get additional magika and spell critical, providing extra boosts for more challenging fights. The set is also a great option for Magika DPS characters because of the Elemental Catalyst’s 5th item trait. It’s one of the better Stonethorn DLC sets, and players will want to pick it up using the tips outlined below.

Farm The Stone Garden

Gamers will have to run the four-person Stone Garden dungeon to pick up all of the Elemental Catalyst set pieces. The dungeon is located in West Skyrim at the Greymoor Cavern in Blackreach. Enter with caution, though, because Stone Garden is not a beginner instance. Only people with a max-level character will be able to survive the waves of bosses. Groups will have to fight their way through three bosses, ultimately facing off against Arkasis The Mad Alchemist.

Tips And Strategy

The basic strategy for the dungeon is to have one tank and at least two DPS characters in the party. Each boss has a ton of health, so parties will want to have plenty of damage potential. A healer is helpful, but really only necessary on hard mode. Gamers can use the dungeon “looking for group” tool to find other players relatively quickly. DPS characters should not have too much trouble getting into this dungeon, since healers are not crucial. As usual though, tanks and healers will find a group quicker on average.

Each of the three bosses can be fought on hard mode. If this is the case, each boss’s health increases and so does the damage inflicted by of their attacks. During the final boss fight, players will be forced to transform into werewolves during each intermission phase. Getting familiar with how to use the werewolf early in the dungeon can be helpful during this part.

Howl At The Moon

At different times in the instance, Gwendis will drop potions on the ground. These potions allow players to transform into a werewolf and deal massive amounts of damage with various different attacks. Tank and DPS characters in particular will want to pick these up, as the transformed abilities are far better than any base character’s abilities. Plus, it is a lot of fun wiping hordes of enemies as a werewolf. Those that find the locked alchemy rooms can use the Gloomspore Agaric Mushrooms to brew potions that extend the duration of the werewolf abilities.

Elemental Catalyst Set

The Elemental Catalyst includes a full armor set, necklace, ring, and an assortment of weapons. Every boss in Stone Garden has a chance to drop one of these pieces when killed. Additionally, smaller mobs and mini-bosses will sometimes drop an item in the set as well. The final boss primarily drops the jewelry and weapons. It is still unclear what the exact drop chances of these set pieces are, but the bosses will almost always drop something of value. In a single playthrough, most people will pick up at least a couple of items in the set.

Set Bonuses And Abilities

The magika and crit bonuses are nice, but the complete set ability is what sets the Elemental Catalyst apart and makes it so desirable. Every time elemental damage is inflicted to an enemy, that target will take a 5% more critical damage for three seconds. This critical chance buff can stack as well. With fast enough attacks, the critical damage can shoot upwards of 9%.

For both adds and bosses, this is a useful buff. Critical hits are already overpowered. When combined with a 9%+ damage buff and 657 spell critical, enemies will have their health bars erased almost instantly. The set bonuses for utilizing multiple pieces are as follows:

It should be noted that gamers running a tank will need to find the Catalyst ring, necklace, and staff. These also happen to be the rarest items of the bunch. To use the set effectively, players will want to use the same element for their staff and magika attacks. Engulfing Fames and Burning Embers are two good examples in the fire category. With the right items and attacks, the Elemental Catalyst set can be a meta tank build in 2021.
