Emily In Paris 5 Of Emilys Best Looks (& 5 Of Her Worst)

In October 2020, Netflix released Emily in Paris, starring Lily Collins as the titular heroine. After getting a promotion from her marketing firm, Emily drops everything and moves to Paris for her new life. The only problem is, Emily doesn’t speak French and has no idea what kind of uphill battle she’ll be fighting when it comes to co-workers, lovers, and being an expat.

Emily in Paris has been trending on the streaming platform for many reasons, but perhaps the biggest is Emily’s style. She doesn’t hold back when it comes strutting down the busy streets of Paris but not all of her looks are magnifique!

10 Best: Black & White With A Touch Of Red

In the episode “Ringarde,” Emily has the opportunity to visit famed fashion designer, Pierre Cadault. As much as Sylvie detests Emily, she brings her along for marketing. The meeting goes wrong when Cadault notices a “basic” charm on Emily’s purse, throwing him into a tantrum. But before everything became messy, Emily was wearing this charming black-and-white checkered blazer that fit her like a dress. Her Chanel bag glamorizes up the outfit but it’s her splash of red in that fans admire. However, speaking of Chanel, fans can’t help but wonder how much money Emily makes to afford such high-end clothes.

9 Worst: Far Too Eager On Her First Day Of Work

On Emily’s first day on the job, she’s all too eager to see her new office, meet her co-workers, and get to work. Her co-workers later mock her for arriving early and dedicating her life to her job, but Emily loves what she does and it shows.

Sadly, aesthetically speaking, Emily missed the mark on her first day. Wearing the Eiffel Tower on her shirt made Julien judge her nine ways to Sunday. It was a classic tourist move.

8 Best: French-Chic In Champagne

In the episode “Family Affair,” Emily tags along with Camille and Gabriel to Camille’s family vineyard in Champagne. Emily is hoping to connect with Camille’s parents so that her marketing firm can rep their brand, but her business weekend gets hazy.

Emily ends up making a huge mistake and sleeps with Camille’s 17-year-old brother after too many glasses of champagne but doesn’t find out his age until brunch the next morning. Embarrassed by her hickey, Emily wears this iconic Vivienne Westwood jacket with a white tulle shirt underneath.

7 Worst: Too Many Patterns

In the second episode of Emily In Paris, Emily heads out of her flat on her way to work in this ensemble. For a late summer/early fall day, the outfit is weather appropriate but it’s the patterns that don’t work. It’s very Sex and The City with the way Emily plays around with style but from the lace to the camp to the glitter to the plaid to the stripes, this outfit missed the mark… by a lot.

6 Best: Stunning At Swan Lake

In the sixth episode, Emily’s hard day turns around when she meets Thomas, an attractive professor, at a late-night restaurant. The two end up spending the night together and Emily is infatuated with this mystery man. However, it’s after Thomas meets her friends that she realizes he’s not the guy for her. Sadly, she had to break things off with him at Swan Lake wearing this stunning off-the-shoulder black dress. She kept accessories simple with a gorgeous crystal headband.

5 Worst: Green On Green Bucket Hat

Fans were mortified watching Emily attend an influencers meet-and-greet in “Faux Amis.” As a woman in marketing, Emily knows how to utilize social media but has repeatedly said she wasn’t an influencer. Nevertheless, Emily showed up in this green-on-green ensemble that could have been opted for literally anything else. Everything was green. If she took off the hat and the scarf, maybe this look could have had a chance.

4 Best: Cozy In Pink

Emily looked like every ’90s girl’s dream in this pink outfit. Wearing a Chiara Ferragni denim skirt, a Sandro Sparks sweater, and knee-high pink socks, Emily looks like she walked straight out of Clueless.

In this episode, Emily attends the function at the American Friends of the Louvre where she’s horrified to find out that she not only had to model one of Pierre Cadault’s dresses but is defaced in it by Grey Space. Her career seemingly went up in flames after this night but at least she looked cute before it all went downhill.

3 Worst: ’80s Flare Gone Wrong

In the episode “French Ending,” Emily goes from marketing guru to babysitter when American movie star Brooklyn Clark comes to Paris. Being a fan of Brooklyn’s work, Emily was excited about the challenge but her dream crashed and burned when she realized what a nightmare Brooklyn was.

While meeting with Brooklyn in her hotel suite, Emily wore a very retro, ’80s-inspired outfit that missed a beat. The pink bucket hat, the purple paisley button-down, the sweater, and the light jacket were all too busy.

2 Best: Sleek & Yellow

Jaws dropped when Emily wore this Ganni dress with black strappy heels. She looked completely relaxed and comfortable but also très elegant.

In this scene, Emily grabs a chocolate croissant from a local café and is shocked by its deliciousness. She, of course, posted the moment she fell in love with the croissant on Instagram but she’d probably get more likes for this dress. It’s a very Mindy Project foodie + fashion moment.

1 Worst: Swallowed By Florals

In the final episode of the first season, Emily showed up to Pierre’s spur-of-the-moment fashion show in this floral dress and matching jacket number by Off-White. If she wore this jacket with black leather pants, she would like beyond fierce. But when it’s paired with the matching skirt, Emily’s petite figure is swallowed whole.
