The trailer for Emily in Paris season 2 shows that Emily is still up to her same old tricks when it comes to love in the City of Light. The first season of Emily in Paris, which was created by Sex and the City’s Darren Star, premiered in October 2020 at a time where COVID-19 related lockdowns were still in stricter effect in many places around the globe. This, combined with the show’s frothy romantic fantasy of international travel, caused Emily in Paris to be a hot topic both for people who loved the show and those who loved hate-watching it. This buzzy quality led Emily in Paris to be nominated for 1 Emmy and 2 Golden Globes

Emily in Paris follows Lily Collins as the titular Emily, a Chicago native who is unlucky in love. She is offered a job at a prestigious marketing firm in Paris and seizes the opportunity, caught up in a whirlwind of new friends, new lovers, and new surroundings. The series also stars Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat, and William Abadie.

On their YouTube channel, Netflix shared the new full trailer for Emily in Paris season 2. It shows that Emily might have more options these days, but she’s still unlucky when it comes to striking a romantic match that will give her everything she wants. Sleeping with Gabriel, her hot but attached neighbor, hasn’t quite panned out, but she is encouraged to embrace the messiness and live her life to the fullest while she’s in Paris. Season 2 was filmed in Paris from May through July of this year, one of the smoother mid-pandemic production schedules so far. The new season will also introduce Katy Keene’s Lucien Laviscount in the recurring role of Alfie and upgrade William Abadie from recurring to main. Abadie plays Antoine Lambert, a client who is having an affair with Emily’s boss. Emily in Paris season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 22, 2021.

Emily in Paris certainly doesn’t look like it’s breaking any new ground in the upcoming season, but that might not be a bad thing. The public reception of the series may have soured somewhat following its award nominations. However, it’s still the same show that people fell in love or hate with, and that will likely lead many viewers to an epic binge or two.
