Even Earth’s Dragon Balls Wouldn’t Save Goku’s Newest Enemy

Even Earths Dragon Balls Wouldnt Save Gokus Newest Enemy

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Dragon Ball Super chapter 78!

The members of Dragon Ball Super’s villainous Heeter Force intel group are pretty lucky they’re fighting against Goku and his friends on planet Cereal because they wouldn’t have been able to make their most recent wish for their muscleman Gas with Earth’s Dragon Balls.

There are some limitations to the wishes that Shenron, the dragon that Earth’s Dragon Balls summon can grant. For example, Shenron can’t or won’t grant the same wish twice, which the dragon proved when Goku’s friends wished to revive everyone killed by Cell by failing to bring back Goku since they had already brought Goku back with the Dragon Balls after Radditz killed him. Additionally, the Dragon Balls cannot be used for one whole year after three wishes have been granted. The only exception to the latter rule is that if the person who summons Shenron decides to save one or two wishes for later, they have a chance to make them in four months instead of 12.

Knowing these limitations, Shenron would have prevented the Heeter Force from wishing for Gas to become the strongest warrior in the universe. The villains accomplish this in chapter 78, however, because they make their wish on planet Cereal. Not long ago, Granolah the Cerealian gathered the whopping two Dragon Balls needed to summon the dragon Toronbo on planet Cereal and wishes to become the strongest warrior in the universe. A year obviously doesn’t pass by the time the Heeter Group later summons Toronbo. Not only that, but the villains make the same exact wish as Granolah made for Gas, which, according to Goku, Shenron would never or cannot permit. In other words, Toronbo can be summoned more than once within a year either because a time limit doesn’t exist or is much shorter. He is also willing or able to grant the same wish more than once. The only downside is that Toronbo only grants one wish each time he’s summoned.

This is just the latest example of why it’s perfect that the battle is transpiring on planet Cereal instead of Earth. The fact that Goku and Vegeta are initially lured to planet Cereal under false pretenses originally served as a stunning correlation to a major plotline in the original Broly movie, which hadn’t been emulated until now. But it later helped complicate Vegeta’s entire persona in a way that Dragon Ball could never explore until now since every battle has taken place on Earth since Vegeta reformed. The Saiyan prince recently revealed that, for the first time since starting a family on Earth, he can completely let lose since he has nothing to protect on planet Cereal, resulting in Vegeta embracing his old villainous ways. He also admitted that he’s only fought alongside Goku on Earth because his family lives there and that since the battle is happening on a completely different planet, he doesn’t have to and would rather die than team up with Goku.

These are interesting developments since fans undoubtedly came to the conclusion long ago that all battles should take place on Earth for the above reasons. Goku and Vegeta’s families are there so, logically, they would have more to lose if they were ever defeated there because it would immediately negatively affect their loved ones. But this latest arc in Dragon Ball Super proves the exact opposite on multiple counts, the latest being that the Dragon Balls on planet Cereal are not as severely limited as the ones on Earth, empowering the Heeter Group’s Gas in ways that Shenron couldn’t.
