Every television channel and streaming service has its own brand of soapy reality shows. ABC is best known for The Bachelor, E! has Keeping Up with The Kardashians, and even Netflix has a growing library of guilty pleasure reality shows for subscribers to binge. For Bravo, their reality brand is The Real Housewives franchise.

The first-ever The Real Housewives series began airing in 2006, and since then the series has launched several spin-off series allowing viewers an inside look at the world of affluent housewives around the country. To date, there have been 10 American The Real Housewives franchises launched in the United States, which begs the question: which Real Housewives is the best according to IMDb?

After the demise of RHODC and RHOM, Bravo added RHOSLC to its roster in 2020, making the franchise even more well-rounded. However, just because a city like Orange County has been a part of the franchise since the beginning doesn’t mean it’s the highest-ranked city according to fans. IMDb’s rating system proves that no city is the same and that they each have its strengths and weaknesses. From standouts on camera to dramatic storylines that stay with a franchise forever, The Real Housewives knows how to do reality TV right.

10 The Real Housewives Of D.C. (2.4)

The Real Housewives of D.C. earns the title of being the least popular Real Housewives series of the American entries. This should not be shocking to longtime fans of the franchise, considering The Real Housewives of D.C. is the only series to get canceled after only one season.

RHODC was the fifth series that premiered in 2010 but it failed to find an audience. While poor ratings were part of its cancellation, executive producer Andy Cohen also blamed the failure of the series on the negative notoriety surrounding Michaele Salahi, who is best known for attending the White House State Dinner without an invitation.

9 The Real Housewives Of Miami (3.0)

The Real Housewives of Miami faired slightly better than the D.C. version, managing to stay on the air for a total of three seasons. The series premiered in February of 2011, making it the seventh series added to the franchise. However, it is also the second-ever Housewives series to get canceled.

According to Cohen, the reason for the cancellation was due to a significant drop in ratings, specifically during the season three reunion specials, which typically draw the biggest views of the series. Ultimately RHOM lacked drama and was given a 3.0 ranking.

8 The Real Housewives Of New Jersey (4.0)

Premiering in May 2009, The Real Housewives of New Jersey became the fourth installment of The Real Housewives franchise and the second series to focus on Housewives on the east coast. Since then, the series continues to air with 10 seasons currently under its belt (and a 4.0 ranking).

The Real Housewives of New Jersey has certainly given fans some memorable moments over the years from its revolving door of cast members. From Teresa Guidice’s one-liners and her memorable scene where she flipped a table to real-life family drama playing out on screen, the RHONJ cast definitely don’t hold back in front of the cameras.

7 The Real Housewives Of Orange County (4.1)

Fans of The Real Housewives might be shocked to learn that The Real Housewives of Orange County lands in the bottom five when it comes to its IMDb rating. This is shocking, considering that The Real Housewives of Orange County is the original series that helped launch the successful franchise.

The RHOC began airing back in March of 2006 and has wrapped up its 15th season. From heated fights to luxurious vacations, the RHOC ladies certainly set the bar high for the franchise.

6 The Real Housewives Of Atlanta (4.3)

When The Real Housewives of Atlanta premiered on Bravo in October 2008, it became the third series in the franchise and the first to feature housewives from the American South. Since then, The Real Housewives of Atlanta has had 13 seasons, with a 14th on the horizon.

Despite having a 4.3 rating on IMDb, The Real Housewives of Atlanta is regularly one of Bravo’s highest-rated series of the franchise. In fact, in February of 2014, Bravo reported that it was their most-watched series ever.

5 The Real Housewives Of New York City (4.5)

Two years after the success of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Bravo decided to turn The Real Housewives into a franchise. Thus, The Real Housewives of New York City was developed and launched in March of 2008. Now the series has just started its 13th season with a 4.5 rating on IMDb.

The Real Housewives of New York City has had its fair share of memorable moments over the years. In addition, it helped former cast member Bethenny Frankel launch her successful SkinnyGirl line of drink and food products.

4 The Real Housewives Of Potomac (4.7)

After the failure of The Real Housewives of D.C., Bravo initially had no interest in returning to the surrounding areas. However, all that changed in January 2016 when The Real Housewives of Potomac became the eighth series to join the franchise.

Unlike the other installments which took place in well-known cities around the country, Bravo set its sights on Potomac, Maryland for their next series. RHOP is going on six seasons and is a fan favorite amongst fans of the franchise. Like its predecessors, there is no shortage of drama when the cast is altogether.

3 The Real Housewives Of Dallas (4.9)

Before The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, The Real Housewives of Dallas was the newest city to join the Bravo family. The Real Housewives of Dallas began airing in April 2016 and just wrapped its fifth season.

Like its predecessors, the ladies of RHOD know how to party and fight but they make it seem different thanks to their Southern charm.

2 The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (5.0)

Coming in second place for the highest-ranked Real Housewives series is none other than The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. RHOBH hit Bravo back in October 2010 and they haven’t slowed down since. Not only did the series just air its 11th season, but its popularity also led to the creation of Vanderpump Rules.

Though the cast may change season to season, the one thing that remains constant is that the ladies of Beverly Hills know how to glam it up and how to fight, which has led to some pretty outrageous moments over the years.

1 The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City (5.2)

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is the newest city in The Real Housewives franchise and it did not disappoint. A 5.2 rating means it’s the highest-ranking city and one of the best Real Housewives franchise. Every woman on the cast was powerful and ran their own company and household.

What made this series extra juicy was their personal relationships with each other. Heather and Whitney were cousins (and allies), Heather went to college with Lisa, and Meredith and Lisa were basically twin best friends. After the first season’s success, season 2 is already on its way.
