Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s final battle saw the entire galaxy arrive to support the Resistance – here are all the ships seen in the fleet.

The final battle of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker saw the entire galaxy join the Battle of Exegol in support of the Resistance – and here are all the starships that were seen on camera. In the third act of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the Resistance navigated the perils of the Unknown Regions to confront Palpatine’s fleet of Sith Star Destroyers. They were both outnumbered and outgunned, and even the redoubtable Poe Dameron briefly lost hope and felt he’d led the Resistance into a death-trap.

Fortunately for the galaxy, he was wrong. The silver-tongued Lando Calrissian had been sent on a mission to call for backup, and he arrived in the nick of time, complete with the so-called “Galaxy Fleet.” This was the most spectacular fleet seen in Star Wars history, consisting of between 14,000 and 16,000 vessels. Industrial Light and Magic used almost every spaceship design in their databank, and even created 55 brand new models as well.

So which vessels actually participated in the Battle of Exegol? Here’s your ultimate guide to all the ships in the Galaxy Fleet, beginning with some of the more famous ships and then moving on to the different categories.

The Millennium Falcon Led The Charge

Let’s start with the most obvious; the new Resistance fleet is led by the Millennium Falcon, this time piloted by Lando Calrissian. The Falcon has come a long way; it essentially serves as the de facto flagship during this battle, with Lando leading the charge against Palpatine’s army and even getting in the time for a rescue mission. Presumably the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy had to fly a little slower in order to ensure it didn’t rocket ahead of the rest of the ragtag fleet.

The Ghost Participated In The Battle of Exegol

Attentive viewers will spot the distinctive shape of the Ghost, the modified VCX-100 cargo freighter that became the mobile home of Hera Syndulla’s Rebel cell in Star Wars Rebels. In case there’s any doubt, Rae Carson’s novelization adds a line of dialogue in which the Ghost calls in to say it’s standing by. It’s unclear whether Hera is still flying the Ghost, or whether it’s been passed on; Lucasfilm hasn’t yet given any indication of whether Hera lived to the time of the sequel trilogy. Interestingly, the Ghost isn’t the only VCX-100 at the Battle of Exegol; there are at least another two.

The Tantive IV, Leia’s Flagship

The Tantive IV was the consular vessel of Leia Organa back during the time of the Empire. It was present at the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and escaped with the Death Star plans. Unfortunately a faulty hyperdrive subsystem – perhaps an act of Imperial sabotage – allowed Darth Vader to pursue the Tantive IV to Tatooine, where the Empire impounded it. It was towed away to an Imperial shipyard to be scuttled, but the Empire forgot about it during the chaos after the destruction of the first Death Star. It was discovered shortly before the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and a delighted Leia reclaimed it as her personal flagship.

The Tantive IV is one of the most famous and distinctive ships in Star Wars, seen fleeing from an Imperial Star Destroyer in the opening scenes of the very first movie. Technically, it’s a CR90 Corellian Corvette, sometimes known as a Blockade Runner. There are actually at least three other CR900s in the Resistance fleet, possibly more, and some have blue markings as seen in Star Wars Rebels.

The Colossus From Star Wars: Resistance

The Colossus was introduced in Star Wars Resistance as an aircraft refueling station on the ocean planet Castilon in the Outer Rim, and was home to the skilled pilots of Ace Squadron. It was occupied by the First Order shortly before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but was liberated, and its secret engines and hyperdrives were triggered to take it into space. Lucasfilm has confirmed three members of Ace Squadron are on hand too – the Fireball, Jarek Yeager’s racer, and Torra Doza’s ship.

The Crucible, An Ancient Jedi Training Vessel

Introduced in The Clone Wars, the Crucible was used by the Jedi Order to transport Padawans. It was shot down during the Clone Wars, but the wreckage was salved by Hondo Ohnaka. It’s possible it was sold on, but its presence in the Battle of Exegol may imply Hondo himself decided to side with the Resistance against Palpatine.

At Least One Lucrehulk Droid Control Ship

Used by the Trade Federation and the Separatist Navy, Lucrehulks were equipped with an army of 1,500 Vulture droids, 50 C-9979 landing craft, 550 Multi-Troop Transports, 6,250 Armored Assault Tanks and 1,500 Platoon Attack Craft. The Trade Federation used a Lucrehulk to blockade and occupy Naboo in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and it was destroyed by Anakin Skywalker. One Lucrehulk participated in the Battle of Exegol in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It’s doubtful this Lucrehulk has a full complement, but its presence certainly raises the possibility that the Resistance have battle droids supporting their numbers.’

A Range Of Frigates & Warships Appeared In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Frigates are a common military type of transport, and they became particularly common during the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. Many pirate fleets include stolen or decommissioned frigates, so it’s unsurprising that the Galaxy Fleet included a lot of these vessels.

Consular Class Frigates were used in Old Republic times to transport diplomats and Jedi Knights to hotspots. Although they were traditionally unarmed, during the Clone Wars a number of these were modified for military service, with turbolaser batteries and troop transport facilities.
Originally designed for the Imperial fleet, the Nebulon Class Frigate is designed to complement large-scale military action. The Rebel Alliance repurposed a number of Nebula Class Frigates as medical cruisers. Interestingly, one of the Nebulon B-Class Frigates at the Battle of Exegol has a visible turret, suggesting it’s been modified.
Developed during the Clone Wars, the Pelta Class Frigates were typically used by the Old Republic to ferry injured Clone Troopers to medical stations for treatment. A handful were refitted with turbolasers during the Galactic Civil War. It’s safe to assume the Pelta Class Frigates seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker were armed.
Vakbeor Class Frigates were developed by Kuat Drive Yards after the fall of the Empire, and they were originally envisioned as a tough freighter able to repel pirate attacks. Ironically the Vakbeor Class Frigates became popular with pirates, and the Resistance liberated a number of Vakbeors prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One is seen during the evacuation of D’Qar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The Hammerhead Class Cruiser was particularly popular in the Expanded Universe, especially the Knights of the Old Republic games, and several Hammerheads are shown in the Battle of Exegol. Their history in Disney’s canon is unknown, but presumably their capabilities are the same.
Several Guavian starships are visible in the final battle as well. Little is known about these ships, which previously appeared – flown by the Guavian Death Gangs – in Star Wars Resistance.
Dornean Gunships – heavily armed vessels that served the Rebel Alliance – can also be seen. They were introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and have since appeared in Star Wars Rebels as well. Evidently they’re still in use by the Resistance.

Mon Calamari Capital Ships Participated In The Battle of Exegol

It may never have been seen on the big screen, but Mon Cala is one of the most crucial planets in the galaxy. Its shipyards were responsible for constructing many of the Rebellion’s most important capital ships, and it’s hardly a surprise to see several Mon Cal vessels in the Galaxy Fleet. Several designs are currently unknown – perhaps numbering among the new starships created by Lucasfilm – but the following can be clearly identified.

The MC75 Star Cruiser is now quite well known; one was the flagship of Admiral Raddus in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There are are at least 25 MC75 at the Battle of Exegol as well, perhaps indicating the entire Mon Calamari fleet has responded to Lando Calrissian’s call to arms. Some of these may be modified Ordnance Cruisers, heavily armed vessels that participated in many Rebel battles.
The classic MC80 Star Cruiser can be seen as well; these were at the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi, and are apparently back in action. They were one of the Rebel Alliance’s most heavily-armed cruisers, and they still compare well to more modern warships.
There are at least seven MC85 Star Cruisers as well; these have long been associated with the Resistance, appearing in both Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Marvel’s Poe Dameron comics. Interestingly, some of the MC85s in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have slightly different profiles, suggesting they’ve been modified for unknown purposes.

There Were Star Destroyers At The Battle Of Exegol

Star Destroyers are traditionally associated with the Empire, but in fact the basic design was created during the Clone Wars. A number of early Star Destroyers are visible in the Galaxy Fleet, most notably the Venator Class Star Destroyers. These were popularly referred to as Jedi Cruisers because a large number of Jedi Generals took them as their command ships. Early Venators featured a large amount of hangar space, but towards the end of the Clone Wars a number of the ships were refitted with additional armaments. It’s unknown which versions served in the Battle of Exegol.

The Eravana, and Other Cargo Freighters

The Ervana was the Balleen-Class cargo transport flown by Han Solo and Chewbacca after they had lost the Falcon. They abandoned it to the Guavian Death Gang in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it seems to have still found its way to the Resistance. It’s not the only cargo transport to join the battle either; there are multiple Sullustan freighters, which may have served as troop transport. There’s also a modified Gozanti class cruiser, which was previously used by the Empire as a military freighter. It’s interesting to speculate whether that had been liberated, or was in fact used by a former Imperial who opposed Palpatine.

Several Resistance Bombers Participated In The Battle Of Exegol

The StarFortress SF-17, otherwise known as the Resistance Bomber, was featured in the opening scenes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The ships are slow but dangerous, requiring a starfighter escort to keep TIE Fighters off their backs in order to drop their payload of proton bombs. No doubt some of these bombers played a key role in crippling Palpatine’s Star Destroyers.

A Range Of Starfighters Fought At The Battle Of Exegol

Of course, there are a number of prominent Starfighters in the Battle of Exegol. The Resistance used all the most famous designs – their trademark X-Wings, the U-Wings seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and even a new B-Wing flown by Aftab Ackbar, son of the famous Admiral. In addition, though, there are also quite a few other starfighters:

Kom’rk-Class fighter: A Mandalorian starfighter and troop transport used by the Death Watch during the Clone Wars. Several of these seem to appear in the background during the Battle of Exegol, although some of them may well be Mandalorian Fang Fighters. It’s interesting to note the Mandalorians evidently joined the battle against Palpatine; they were attempting to keep their survival a secret in The Mandalorian, but may have decided now was the time to come out of the shadows.
The N-1 starfighter, also called the Naboo starfighter, is a single-seat ship seen in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. It’s interesting to see N-1 starfighters at Exegol, because these ships didn’t contain their own hyperdrives; it’s possible they were brought by another capital ship, or else they’ve been modified.
Several Auzituck anti-slaver gunships are visible; these were introduced in the old Expanded Universe, where they were used by the Wookiees.

Some Other Surprising Vessels Appeared In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Shuttles are rarely used in combat situations; they’re typically used for short-range transport, perhaps between different ships. For all that’s the case, though, there are a small number of shuttles among the Galaxy Fleet. These have presumably been retrofitted to allow them to travel greater distances. They include:

Jedi T-6 shuttles, originally unarmed transports. The Jedi retrofitted them with weapons during the Clone Wars, and the Rebels used them during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Endor, Ahsoka Tano flew a T-6 shuttle to pick up Sabine Wren in order to begin their search for Ezra. A number of T-6 shuttles were visible during the Battle of Exegol in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Another surprising addition to the Galaxy Fleet is the StarSpeeder 3000, the ship associated with Disney’s Star Tours ride. This indicates just how many people chose to support the Resistance; they’re hardly heavily armed.
Viewers can spot a number of quadjumpers – previously seen on Jakku in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Again, these are hardly standard military vehicles, but they’re typically used to guide other ships so may have helped with navigating the Unknown Regions.
There’s even a Nubian yacht, the same kind of beautiful Naboo ship associated with Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy. Nubians seem to be quite ill-fated; Padmé lost both her yachts, in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and The Clone Wars. This one is destroyed by Palpatine’s Force lightning.

Enfys Nest’s Aerie Seems To Have Been At The Battle Of Exegol

During production of Solo: A Star Wars Story, concept artists created a vessel called the Aerie. This was intended to be used by Enfys Nest and her group, the Cloud-Riders, and it was designed by making modifications to the B-Wing. The Aerie never actually appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but it was still referenced in a tie-in. There, it was described as the mobile headquarters of the nomadic pirates, and it was said to seldom land; they tended to launch out of it in their swoops from a high altitude. A ship matching the Aerie is briefly visible in the background during the Battle of Exegol, presumably meaning Enfys Nest – or her followers – survived to the Age of Resistance.

Shadow Caster May Have Appeared In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

This one’s a little more debatable; Shadow Caster was a Lancer-class pursuit craft used by the bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo in Star Wars Rebels. It’s fast and powerful, and heavily armed. If this is the Shadow Caster, however, it’s been modified a little over the years; the profile is subtly different.
