Every Song In The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4

Warning: SPOILERS for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 ahead.

The fourth and final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features an incredible soundtrack, with many of the songs performed by the show’s cast members. Since it premiered on Netflix in 2018, each season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has had an impeccable soundtrack, with songs to serenade the Archie Comics’ character as she struggles to find herself in the mortal and infernal realms.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Kiernan Shipka as the titular teenage witch Sabrina Spellman who was raised by her aunts Hilda (Lucy Davis) and Zelda (Miranda Otto). While Melissa Joan Hart enjoyed a seven year run as the character in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Netflix’s version has captivated audiences with its very different, gleefully horror-filled approach to the source material. Shipka’s Sabrina made an impressive introduction in season 1 when she rejected her dark baptism and resisted her fate by the Dark Lord’s side. As the show has progressed, Sabrina has fallen in and out of love with Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood), and season 3’s villain Caliban (Sam Corlett). She’s also saved Theo Putnam (Lachlan Watson), Rosalind Walker (Jaz Sinclair), and Prudence Blackwood (Tati Gabrielle) from certain doom.

Season 4 continues Sabrina’s storyline as a witch who would do anything to save the people she loves, but this seems to be the end of the road. Netflix announced that the series will not continue following season 4. While fans were hopeful that another streaming service would save Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, there hasn’t been any news of this happening and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has even stated that, for now, her story will only continue through the comic books. With the series coming to an official close at Netflix, season 4 takes full advantage of using songs to capture the emotions of particular scenes, exciting live performances from the cast, and an eerie glimpse into the void.

Episode 1: “Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Eldritch Dark”

The Zombies, “Time of the Season”: plays when Sabrina first appears on screen for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4. It is a brief moment that features the teenage witch getting ready for school at Baxter High.

Squirrel Nut Zippers, “Hell”: blasts over the speakers in the middle of Pandemonium as Sabrina Morningstar dances with Caliban. After Sabrina Spellman comes to visit her double, she is told that every night can be prom night, especially when the queen of Hell requests it. This is the first glimpse at what she’s been up to since taking the throne at the end of season 3, making the song choice “Hell” the perfect way to usher in a new season of fire and brimstone.

Billy Idol, “Dancing with Myself”: sings as the two Sabrinas dance with one another in Spellman’s bedroom, providing a very literal musical backdrop for the scene.

Episode 2: “Chapter Thirty: The Uninvited”

The Smashing Pumpkins, “Solara”: when Nick and Melvin are sent to Dr. Cerberus’s (Alessandro Juliani) to finally exorcise the shopkeeper’s incubus, the sex demon jumps out of his body and into Theo’s. As the newly possessed teen walks out of the store, “Solara” plays. Rather appropriately, the song details sins and unholy desires.

The B-52’s, “Love Shack”: is a very fitting song to start the reception at Hilda and Dr. Cerberus’s wedding. Amid all the horror, the pop song is a reminder that there’s a lot of love to be celebrated between Greendale’s newest newlyweds.

The Fright Club, “Radio Gaga”: Harvey, Theo, Roz and Robin’s band plays this Queen classic moments before the Eldritch terror from Lovecraftian lore arrives to ruin the celebration.

Episode 3: “Chapter Thirty-One: The Weird”

The Shakers, “Bad Thing”: Sabrina decides to make a boyfriend comprised of the best parts of Harvey and Nick. As she places the wax figure into her bathtub, “Bad Thing” plays.

Kiernan Shipka, Gavin Leatherwood, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”: when the Weird attaches itself to Sabrina’s mind, the toxic witch Pesta has to make her brain an uninhabitable place for the parasite. In order to survive, she must choose a mantra. She sings “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” a song that’s been stuck in her head for the past few months leading up to her seventeenth birthday. It was originally performed by the cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music.

Coyle Girelli, “Something Strange in the Night”: plays as Sabrina pulls the plug on her wax boyfriend. There’s certainly something strange coming their way, with the arrival of the fourth Eldritch terror and the new trio of weird sisters.

Disturbed, “Down with the Sickness”: Father Faustus Blackwood’s (Richard Coyle) favorite Eldritch terror is arriving in episode 4. As “Chapter Thirty-One: The Weird” comes to a close, Disturbed’s “Down with the Sickness” plays.

Episode 4: “Chapter Thirty-Two: The Imp of the Perverse”

Bad Woods, “Black Magic”: Sabrina and Rosalind are running for student council. As they’re handing out pamphlets and flyers, “Black Magic” plays, foreshadowing their decision to run on a platform of being “witches.”

Gavin Leatherwood, Tyler Cotton, Mellany Barros, “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”: This song from the musical Cabaret is sung by a member of the Hitler Youth, heralding the rise of Nazism in Weimar Germany. In Father Blackwood’s perverse version of Greendale, he rules as a dictator and witches are hunted down and forced into hiding.

Episode 5: “Chapter Thirty-Three: Deus Ex Machina”

The Fright Club (feat. Sabrina Morningstar), “Total Eclipse of the Heart”: plays as Nick and Sabrina have sex for the first time and the Fright Club comes together with Sabrina Morningstar for a final performance. Bonnie Tyler originally performed the song, which details the confusion that comes with love and loss of direction. In this episode, the two Sabrinas are at a crossroads where the two must decide if one of them dies or if they merge together to become one.

Episode 6: “Chapter Thirty-Four: The Returned”

Every Song In The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4

Satanic Panic, “Partytime”: as the Returned come to Greendale, the Fright Club join a battle of the bands with Satanic Panic, whose manager is the devil himself. The demonic band performs 45 Grave’s “Partytime.” While fans did not get the Riverdale crossover they’d been waiting for, there was a major Easter egg referencing Fred Andrews’s (Luke Perry) band, Fred Heads, who was meant to take them on prior to their demise.

The Fright Club, “Time Warp”: The Rocky Horror Picture Show was referenced back in “The Weird” when Sabrina took Melvin up on his offer to go out on a date. It isn’t until “The Returned” that the rock musical officially made an appearance in the form of the Fright Club’s performance against Satanic Panic.

The Dark Mothers, “Sweet Child o’ Mine” – originally performed by Guns N’ Roses, Sabrina’s band The Dark Mothers challenges Fright Club and Satanic Panic with a surprise cover of the song. Episode 6 not only includes the aforementioned Riverdale Easter eggs – it also references Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie. The homecoming queen that was killed by the band members of Satanic Panic rises as one of the returned to seek her revenge, which involves setting them ablaze while she is covered in blood.

Episode 7: “Chapter Thirty-Five: The Endless”

Every Song In The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4

As season 4 grows darker, there are less songs present in the final episodes. It may be due to the fact that episode 7 features the original Hilda and Zelda Spellman from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which didn’t have much besides a laugh track. There are only two Eldritch terrors left, meaning that Sabrina’s life will come to an end very soon. By the time “Chapter Thirty-Five: The Endless” concludes with Sabrina Morningstar breaking through her bedroom mirror into Spellman’s universe and dying upon arrival.

Episode 8: “Chapter Thirty-Six: At The Mountains of Madness”

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ends in “Chapter Thirty-Six: At The Mountains of Madness.” It gained its title from H. P. Lovecraft’s novella of the same name. Considering the fact that the entirety of season 4 is based on the Lovecraftian mythos, “At The Mountains of Madness” is the perfect choice to end the series and season. Episode 8 doesn’t feature any songs to add to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 4 soundtrack, as it is far too dark to imagine anything besides the mourning of Sabrina Spellman and Sabrina Morningstar’s deaths to finish out the series.
