Jason Momoa’s latest project is Sweet Girl, an action thriller movie streaming exclusively on Netflix, but what’s next for the popular actor? Jason Momoa has won over the hearts of viewers thanks to his versatility and personality, which have earned him a place in some of Hollywood’s most popular and ambitious projects. Momoa’s acting debut arrived in 1999 in the action drama series Baywatch Hawaii, where he played Jason Ioane, and in 2004 he joined the soap opera North Shore as Frankie Seau.

That same year, Momoa made his film debut in the road comedy Johnson Family Vacation, and in 2005 he joined the sci-fi TV series Stargate Atlantis as Ronon Dex. In 2011 he played the lead role in Conan the Barbarian, a reimagining of the 1982 movie of the same name, and his big break arrived that same year when he was cast as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Since then, Momoa has taken part in various big projects in both TV and film, such as Apple TV+’s See, but his most notable role to date is that of Arthur Curry in the DCEU’s Justice League, Aquaman, and the upcoming sequel to the latter.

Momoa’s latest project is Sweet Girl, where he plays Ray Cooper, a man who vows justice against the pharmaceutical company responsible for pulling a potentially life-saving drug from the market just before his wife dies from cancer. His search for the truth puts him and his daughter in danger, so his mission turns into a quest for vengeance in order to protect the only family he has left. Dune – October 22, 2021

Based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve and is the first of a planned two-part adaptation. Dune follows Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) who accepts the stewardship of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of a valuable substance that extends human life and more. Knowing well it’s a trap set by his enemies, he takes his concubine Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), his son and heir Paul (Timotheé Chalamet), and his trusted advisors with him, but a betrayal and the presence of giant sandworms will complicate everything. Jason Momoa plays Duncan Idaho, a Swordmaster of the Ginaz in the service of House Atreides and one of Duke Leto’s right-hand men. Dune will be released theatrically on October 22 with a simultaneous release on HBO Max for 31 days.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – December 16, 2022

Jason Momoa will be back as Arthur Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Plot details haven’t been revealed yet, but Aquaman 2 will have James Wan back as director and Momoa will reunite with co-stars Patrick Wilson (Orm Marius/Ocean Master), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (David Kane/Black Manta), Temuera Morrison (Thomas Curry), Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus), and Amber Heard (Mera). Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled for a December 16, 2022 release, and hopefully, it will get to enjoy a theatrical release by then.

Slumberland – 2022

Slumberland is a fantasy comedy-adventure movie directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the comic book series Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay. Slumberland will follow Nema (Marlow Markley), a young girl who discovers a secret map to the title dreamworld, and with the help of an outlaw, she traverses through dreams and flees nightmares with hope that she will see her late father again. Jason Momoa plays Flip, the aforementioned eccentric outlaw who guides Nema through a secret dreamworld. Slumberland is scheduled for a 2022 release.
