Every Upcoming Timothée Chalamet Movie

As one of the most bankable actors of his generation, Timothée Chalamet isn’t slowing down any time soon, with several upcoming movies already on his plate. Making his film debut in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women, & Children in 2014, Chalamet has quickly become one of the most prolific contemporary actors in Hollywood. As a teenager, Chalamet had several roles in comedies, dramas, and sci-fi movies like Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and the Christmas movie Love the Coopers, but would soon be launched into international acclaim for his starring role in the Academy Award-winning film Call Me By Your Name.

Following his 2017 Oscar nomination for Best Actor, Chalamet has been featured in main roles for critically acclaimed films like Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019), Beautiful Boy (2018), and Netflix’s The King (2019). More recently, Timothée Chalamet’s box office star power has led high-profile directors to recruit him to star in highly-anticipated movies like Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune in 2021. Chalamet’s protagonist role of Paul Atreides in Dune signals a new trajectory in the actor’s career, giving him the chance to lead a highly praised sci-fi franchise with foreseeable longevity.

With how popular Chalamet has grown, big-budget projects not releasing for several more years have already struck deals for him to star. Chalamet has a pretty busy schedule coming up, but he’ll also have some freedom since a few projects have either been placed on hold or canceled, such as the potential Call Me By Your Name sequel titled Find Me, with director Luca Guadagnino revealing it to essentially have been canceled (via GQ). While only a few confirmed upcoming Timothée Chalamet movies have set release dates, one can expect at least a couple more projects will be added to his plate in the coming months. Here’s a breakdown of all of the upcoming movies Timothée Chalamet will be starring in over the next few years.

In his first movie after the same-day October 2021 releases of The French Dispatch and Dune, Chalamet will soon be back on screen for Adam McKay’s star-studded Netflix film Don’t Look Up. Don’t Look Up also stars Meryl Streep as the U.S. President, Jonah Hill as the Chief of Staff, Chris Evans as the Secretary of Defense, and Timothée Chalamet as a character named Yule. Adam McKay’s all-star cast movie will have a short theatrical release beginning on December 10 followed by its Netflix streaming premiere on December 24, 2021.

Wonka – 2023

Every Upcoming Timothée Chalamet Movie

One of Timothée Chalamet’s most anticipated upcoming movies is Wonka, an origin story about Roald Dahl’s eccentric Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character Willy Wonka. Chalamet will star as a young Willy Wonka prior to becoming the famous candy factory owner previously portrayed by Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). The upcoming fantasy musical film will be directed by Paddington’s Paul King with supporting performances from Keegan Michael-Key, The Crown’s Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, and Rowan Atkinson. Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka prequel is set to release on March 17, 2023.

Dune 2 – 2023

Every Upcoming Timothée Chalamet Movie

Following high critical and audience praise for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (2021), Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures officially greenlit Dune Part 2 for a 2023 release date. Chalamet stars in the Dune film series as Paul Atreides, a young man who inherits mental abilities from his mother and the title of Duke from his father. If following the books, Dune 2 will explore Paul on the planet Arrakis living with the Fremen as the prophesied leader the Arrakis people have been waiting for. The action will certainly pick up in Dune 2, with Paul’s prophetic dreams being realized while falling in love with the young Fremen warrior Chani (Zendaya) and waging battle with the treacherous Emperor. Denis Villeneuve had initially intended to film Dune parts 1 and 2 back-to-back but Warner Bros. rejected the idea, so Dune 2 won’t be released until October 20, 2023.

Bones and All – TBA

Every Upcoming Timothée Chalamet Movie

Another upcoming film on Timothée Chalamet’s docket is Bones and All, a 1980s-set drama starring Chalamet and Escape Room’s Taylor Russell as star-crossed lovers. The young outcasts meet and embark on a thousand-mile road trip across America, exploring the backroads and hidden spots of the U.S. while testing their love for another when their fraught pasts come to light. Bones and All is directed by Call Me By Your Name’s Luca Guadagnino, reuniting the director with Chalamet for the first time since 2017. The romance-horror film is adapted from the 2015 Camille DeAngelis novel of the same name, which will also star André Holland, Chloë Sevigny, Jessica Harper, and, oddly, Halloween reboot director David Gordon Green. Filming for Bones and All wrapped in July 2021 without a set release date, but can be expected to premiere in late 2022 or 2023.

Going Electric – TBD

While Going Electric was highly anticipated following its 2020 announcement, the film will likely be stuck in development hell for the near future (via IndieWire). The biopic is set to star Timothée Chalamet as musician Bob Dylan in the 1960s during a particularly controversial time in his life. Chalamet’s Bob Dylan would specifically document the period in which he transforms his musical style from folk to rock. Going Electric will be directed by James Mangold, whose last musical biopic Walk The Line, centering on the lives of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, received several Academy Award nominations and a Best Actress win for Reese Witherspoon in 2006. The film is certainly being put on the backburner for those involved, with Chalamet booked for several other big upcoming movies while Mangold is preoccupied with the ever-delayed Indiana Jones 5, which is now set for a June 2023 release date. Vogue reported back in July 2020 that Timothée Chalamet was taking guitar lessons for the upcoming role, though it’s unclear whether the practice has been kept up considering it’s been put on hold.
