Here’s everything we know about the upcoming HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot, including its release date, cast, and story details. First announced in July 2019, the reboot is based on the teen drama of the same name which aired on The CW from 2007 until 2012. Adapting the novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar, the original Gossip Girl focused on the lives of privileged teens living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Its cast included Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, and Chace Crawford.
The creative team who worked on Gossip Girl is returning for the reboot. Joshua Safran, an executive producer on the original, will serve as showrunner. The reboot features a large ensemble cast.
