We’ve got a brand new look at the upcoming original graphic novel, Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven. In the story, Beast Boy and Raven’s romance begins to blossom, as the two popular heroes go on a similar quest to find answers about their complicated pasts, as they seek out Slade Wilson, AKA Deathstroke.
Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven is a sequel to Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo’s New York Times bestselling chapters of the two DC Comics heroes. Teen Titans: Raven reimagined Rachel Roth’s origin, as her life was upended after the death of her foster mother, leading her on a journey to discover her demonic father Trigon was trying to take control of her. Meanwhile, Teen Titans: Beast Boy focused on Garfield Logan making his way through high school while dealing with his powers to shapeshift into animals. The new graphic novel is a sequel to Raven and Beast Boy’s original stories and will showcase the pair’s iconic romance from the very beginning.
Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven and the preview that will appear in the upcoming I Am Not Starfire graphic novel. In the pages, both Raven and Beast Boy are on separate trips to Nashville to search out Deathstroke. Raven struggles with controlling her father trapped inside the jewel on her necklace. Meanwhile, Beast Boy has his own troubles, as he ignores messages from his parents after believing his whole life has been based on a lie.
Beast Boy and Raven both decide to grab a bite to eat at the same barbeque joint, with Garfield first seeing Rachel, admitting “I think I’m in love.” He comes up with a reason to talk with her, switching their food orders around – but the plan backfires, as Rachel isn’t impressed with the switcharoo. Not helping matters, Beast Boy’s monkey Kong pulls on Raven’s hair, which angers her. The preview ends with Garfield lamenting he’s missed out on the girl of his dreams. It’s superhero teen awkwardness at its finest.
The first look at Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven looks like it’s going to be another exciting and heartfelt chapter in the ongoing saga from Garcia and Picolo. Both creators have such a great grasp on what makes the two heroes so much fun, with the first two graphic novels being near-perfect takes on Raven and Beast Boy for a teen audience. Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven will certainly continue that trend. The OGN is scheduled for a September 28 release and is now available for preorder.
