FF7 Remake Intergrade Wont Add More DLC In The Future

It has been confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade won’t have any additional DLC outside of the Yuffie content that has already been announced. Intergrade is the name given to the PS5 update for FF7 Remake, which will revamp the visuals and add quality-of-life improvements.

The most exciting addition to FF7 Remake Intergrade is DLC content that will add a new storyline involving Yuffie from the original Final Fantasy 7. The Yuffie content will take place across two chapters, and it will involve her quest to steal an ultimate Materia from the Shinra Corporation. Yuffie will arrive in Midgar as a secret operative for the new Wutai government, where she hooks up with Avalanche and uses their help to break into the Shinra Headquarters. The Yuffie chapters will involve Deepground from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 in some unknown capacity.

The FF7 community has speculated that the Yuffie DLC would be the first in a series for FF7 Remake Intergrade, with other characters like Red XIII receiving DLC being included further down the line. However, this has been confirmed to not be the case. FF7 Remake Intergrade co-director Tetsuya Nomura has told Famitsu that there are no more plans for DLC outside of the Yuffie chapters. Nomura confirmed that the goal of Intergrade is to set the stage for the next entry in the series, as well as preparing the series for making the jump to PS5 hardware.

There is still no word regarding a release date for the sequel of FF7 Remake, or even an indication to what its name will be. However, Square Enix’s decision makes sense, as stuffing the first chapter with DLC could lead to development stalling on the sequel, so the Yuffie DLC could simply be another incentive for players to make the jump to the PS5. This would also explain why the Yuffie DLC won’t be available on PS4.

It’s sad that FF7 Remake Intergrade won’t receive any additional DLC content, as extra episodes could have provided an early look at characters that have yet to appear in the remade game, like Cid Highwind or Vincent Valentine. This might be for the best, though, as a lengthy season pass filled with smaller DLC episodes would only dilute the overall experience. The upcoming Yuffie DLC will offer a return to Midgar and prepare fans for the upcoming sequel. If there was a procession of DLC following Yuffie’s chapters, then it likely wouldn’t be as special to see all of the old characters return in later entries in the series.
