FFXIV Starlight Celebration 2021 Event & Rewards Explained

The Starlight Celebration is one of Final Fantasy XIV’s annual holiday events, it is themed after Christmas, and typically takes place from mid-December to the end of the month. During the celebration, adventurers can complete unique quests to obtain festive rewards. The event has been organized by the Miqo’te, Ahm Garanjy in the past and is typically held at the Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre in Gridania. Previously, Endwalker’s roadmap showed the festival to be releasing around its usual time. The Starlight Celebration is once again returning this year to spread joy throughout Eorzea.

The origins of the Final Fantasy XIV event trace back to the early beginnings of the Dragonsong War in Coerthas. Even though it was forbidden, some Ishgardian knights would shelter orphans in their barracks during times of turmoil. They snuck the children inside by disguising them with the jackets of the knights’ scarlet uniforms. As the fighting settled down during a ceasefire, life eventually went back to normal and the orphans no longer needed protection. The Starlight Celebration was later created to honor the knights and share the kindness those children received from the soldiers. A group of former orphans founded this event to make sure no one would forget the deeds of the generous knights.

Players can start the seasonal quest “A Very Yeti Starlight” by speaking to Ahm Garanjy in Old Gridania at (X: 10.2, Y: 9.4). The Starlight Celebration Has Returned In FFXIV: Endwalker

The Starlight Celebration has occurred each year since Final Fantasy XIV’s inception, except for 2012 when the servers were down to set up A Realm Reborn. New rewards are earned every iteration pertaining to the quests given to adventurers. The bearded captain of the knights that cared for the orphans became associated with the goddess Nymeia The Spinner, and was thereafter regarded as a saint. In Eorzea, children wait all year to get presents from the “Saint of Nymeia” by placing an envelope with their wishes under a pine or fir tree. The festival is administered by the Adventurers Guild, and they handle the giving of gifts to the children. This event has in the past also generously doled out some coveted rewards, such as giving players one of the best exclusive mounts in FFXIV. Citizens from far and wide travel to take part in the festivities.
