FFXIVs Dragon Quest X Event Is Great If You Want DQ10 In The West

The Dragon Quest X crossover event for Final Fantasy XIV is once again arriving in-game, allowing fans to collect some DQ-themed goodies in FFXIV. “Breaking Brick Mountains” is a short but sweet crossover, offering some excellent Dragon Quest cosmetics. For fans who have especially been wanting a DQ10 western release, this event in FFXIV is definitely worthwhile.

Despite many fans asking for DQ10 in the West, developers have repeatedly denied a Dragon Quest X western release for the online version of the game. However, Dragon Quest X Offline was announced earlier this year during the series’ 35th Anniversary livestream and could potentially release globally. So far, however, this offline version of DQ10 with a Chibi aesthetic is only set for release in Japan, making the crossover event in FFXIV all the more important for Dragon Quest fans.

With the Endwalker expansion coming soon to FFXIV, several events have already been repeated in the MMO in 2021. This is nothing really new, as FFXIV has brought back crossover events with games like Yo-Kai Watch and Final Fantasy XV several times now. Even this DQ10 event has been featured numerous times since A Realm Reborn launched in 2013. Still, for those people who may have missed out on the event before (or who want to relive it through FFXIV’s seasonal replay feature), it’s a great mash-up of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

FFXIV & Dragon Quest X Crossover Event: Rewards & Start Date

The Dragon Quest X event, “Breaking Brick Mountains,” comes back to FFXIV on October 19, 2021, and runs through November 11. The rewards are a Wind-Up Brickman minion (modeled after DQ’s iconic golems), the Thug’s Mug (modeled after a fan-favorite recurring NPC model), and the King Slime Crown (which gives the illusion that a King Slime is on a player’s head). The event itself can be completed by participating in the necessary FATEs and speaking with the event NPC in Ul’dah. The event FATEs include Dragon Quest’s popular golem enemies, and the quest makes numerous references to aspects of the series (like puff-puff).

While the FFXIV crossover event itself may be a small consolation to the many Dragon Quest fans who want a DQ10 western release, it’s still a lot of fun. Hopefully, at least Dragon Quest 10 Offline will get released globally, even if there hasn’t been an official announcement yet. In the meantime, this event in Final Fantasy XIV is still a pretty good way to pass the time – and it’s definitely worth checking out, especially for the many Dragon Quest fans out there.
