Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker How To Defeat Amon The Undying (Boss Guide)

In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker’s fifth dungeon, the Aitiascope dungeon, players will encounter Amon the Undying as the third and final dungeon boss after defeating Livia the Undeterred and Rhitahtyn the Unshakable. The dungeon is located in the Aetherial Sea and will require players to travel into its depths to come out victorious. In the story of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Amon the Undying may be a familiar face as players have already faced him in the Syrcus Tower.

Before encountering Amon, players will face a series of enemies, the most dangerous of which is Sinking Regret. The Sinking Regret has a move called Lost Opportunity, which has a large cone area of effect that targets a random party member, and this move can be difficult to avoid. Once players clear these enemies, they will face the last boss of the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker dungeon, Amon the Undying.

Amon the Undying is in a circular arena and has seven unique moves that he will use during the fight. The boss will open with Dark Forte, which is a move that will target the party’s tank and deal significant damage. To mitigate this move’s effect, players should use their cooldowns as much as possible. Amon’s next move is Thundaga Forte, which has an area of effect that stems from the center of the arena. Accordingly, the closer a Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker party member is to the center, they will incur more damage. The trick to avoiding the damage from Thundaga Forte is to pay attention to the eight sections of the arena. The attack stems from the center but will move faster on either the even or odd sections of the arena. Players can move into the open sections as the attack moves to avoid damage.

Strophe is a move that summons a flat disc and is not as dangerous until Amon casts Antistrophe, which will tilt the disc upright and cause energy beams to fire forward once the disc is in a fully upright position. Later in the fight, Amon may cast Strophe with more than one disc. The next attack, Firaga Forte, will either bomb either side of the arena with energy. Amon will then cast Entr’acte, which causes explosions around the outer edge of the arena. This attack will hit the entire party, and players will want to use their healers in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.

Eruption Forte is that move that causes a circular area of effect underneath two random party members. Finally, Amon the Undying’s best move is Curtain Call. Amon will summon two large circle areas of effect when he casts this move, but about halfway through the summon, Shiva will appear. Next, Shiva will cast another large circle area of effect near the center of the arena, hitting it with a sizable chunk of ice. Players will want to avoid getting hit with the ice but should immediately begin moving toward it and hide behind the ice to avoid Amon’s attack. Any party members not behind the ice when Curtain Call finally lands will die instantly. Once the player defeats Amon the Undying, they will have cleared the Aitiascope dungeon and proceed to The Dead Ends in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.
