Final Fantasy 7 How to Defeat The Eligor

Final Fantasy 7 brings Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith into the Train Graveyard. This guide will help players defeat the area’s final boss, The Eligor. The Final Fantasy 7 remake brings old and new players into the world of Midgar. Rebuilding the entire game from the ground up, Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret return to stop Shinra from destroying the world. The original game is known as one of the most important games to ever exist because it pushed for deeper story-telling in video games. The classic title built its reputation as a massive multi-disc RPG. Final Fantasy 7 released on the original PlayStation containing three discs inside of its case. The norm for games in that era was just one disc, but due to the size of the content within each disc, they had to split it amongst different discs. After completing the first disc, the game would prompt the player to enter the second disc and so on. The Final Fantasy 7 remake is currently just the first 10 hours of the original game. The remake ends its story in Midgar and plans to continue the rest of the original story with some twists with future releases. One of the new bigger changes comes along with the areas that have been expanded into the remake. This guide will help players defeat a new boss introduced in chapter 11, Eligor.

The Train Graveyard was in the original Final Fantasy 7, as players would enter this location after escaping the sewers from Don Corneo. Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith all work together to make their way through the Train Graveyard and reach Sector 7 before Shinra can complete their plan of dropping the plate. Making the plate fall would not only antagonize Avalanche, the group made up of our heroes, but it will also push forward Shinra’s motives to begin a war with a neighboring city, Wutai. Thousands of innocent people would die if the plate fell, and the group makes their way through the Train Graveyard to stop it. In the remake, the Train Graveyard has been heavily expanded upon, telling the story of children who have been taking by benevolent spirits, being unable to ever leave. The final boss of this area was once a normal enemy in the original Final Fantasy 7. Here, they gave it an upgrade, making it a full-fledged boss fight. This guide will help players defeat the Eligor in the Train Graveyard.

How To Beat The Eligor in Final Fantasy 7

For starters, make sure to equip Ice Materia as the Eligor’s chariot is weak to it. Eligor contains massive defense and other moves won’t work against it. It will use the Piercing Gaze move, a laser that reveals its target. Properly time its movements and dodge when it’s about to shoot. It will also change its target pretty frequently. When the Eligor beings to charge at the team, switch to Cloud and use Punisher Mode to counter it. Deadly Dodge is also helpful for avoiding getting hit and getting damage in.

During the next phase, Eligor will fly into the air. During his time in the air, all physical attacks won’t work. Switch to Aerith and use normal attacks and Tempest to get some additional damage. She is the only one that can attack without requiring MP. Although, make sure to use Pray and Healing Wind to keep Cloud and Tifa alive once it comes back down. Don’t attempt to attack it in the air with any other character. Wait and use Aerith until it lands. Once it lands, dodge the javelin strikes. Here, landing locations will appear on the ground. Hide behind the cargo container in the center of the arena up until it gets blown away by the Eligor.

Keep attacking it until it enters its final phase. During the final phase, the chariot’s wheels are the weak point. For the most part, the Eligor will remain grounded and swing around its weapon. Cloud can use the Punisher Mode counter to get some extra damage. For players who are struggling with getting the timing down for Punisher Mode, sticking with Aerith makes it much easier to deliver safe damage. She also is great for focusing on healing during this part of the fight. There is no better boss to try parrying with the Punisher Mode as his attack windows are extremely predictable. Although, once the player is able to counter the first hit, the second hit may knock Cloud away. Focus attacking the wheels and induce the Stagger. Aerith is great for attacking the wheels at a distance. Cloud using Punisher Mode will also do quick work of the health of the wheels. Once it’s staggered, switch back to Cloud and Tifa and destroy the Eligor. Once the battle is over, the player will be rewarded with a cutscene describing a bit of Aerith’s back story as a child. The team will continue to make their way to the slums and stop Shinra before they can drop the plate on thousands of innocent people.

Final Fantasy 7 remake was tasked with recreating one of the most beloved games to ever exist. While there has been a divide between fans on how the developer is handling releasing the game into several parts rather than one large package, the quality of the first game of the Final Fantasy 7 remake series has proven that Square Enix can create a fun and impactful game that will resonate with its players. The next title of the series has yet to be revealed, but certain elements in the first make it seem that this story will be something entirely new, separating from the idea that this is a remake of the original game. The first game might have been a remake, but moving forward, the game will most likely no share the same story as the original, causing some anger in the community for players who just wanted a remake of the original game. Regardless, the Final Fantasy 7 remake is a game that has shown it can stand up with other large titles and potentially claim the game of the year.
