Final Fantasy 7 How to Defeat The Jenova Dreamweaver

Final Fantasy 7 features Jenova Dreamweaver, a creature from outer space that acts as one of the final bosses of the Shinra Building. This guide will help players defeat it. The Final Fantasy 7 remake was one of the most anticipated games to release in 2020. Remaking one of gaming most important titles is a big task but Square Enix stepped up and filled in the shoes left behind by the original. The game follows Cloud Strife as he completes tasks as a mercenary. He quickly joins the eco-terrorist group called Avalanche, a group of individuals who plan to rid the world of Shinra and save the planet from the company stealing all of its lifeblood. The original game was a semi-turn based RPG that released back in 1997. Now, 23 years later, the first part of a multi-game series has released and has blown plenty of hardcore fan’s expectations out of the water. Each section has been faithfully recreated from the original and the game also expands on previous plot points, providing more depth and character moments in the remake. One of the final locations in the game is within the Shinra building, where the Avalanche group breaks into the rescue their kidnapped friend, Aerith. Along the way, players will face off against Jenova Dreamweaver and this guide will help players defeat it.

Jenova Dreamweaver falls from outer space towards the beginning of the Final Fantasy 7 mythos and acts as a major antagonist for the game. Throughout the game, Jenova Dreamweaver is hidden deep within the Shinra Building and is being experimented on by Dr. Hojo. Cells from the Jenova Dreamweaver have been placed inside of countless Soldiers, the fighting task force that is bonded to protect Shinra. Cloud throughout the game mentions how he left Soldier and acts independently as a mercenary-for-hire. Towards the end of the game, the group breaks into the Shinra building. Here, they participate in a museum tour, describing the history and mission statement of Shinra. After the player reaches the Presidents office, and witnesses Barret gets stabbed by Sephiroth, the battle between the remainder of Avalanche and Jenova begins. This is one of the final bosses of the game, and also one of the more challenging. The area teleports to a new area containing the monstrous Jenova and this guide will help players take it down.

How To Beat Jenova Dreamweaver in Final Fantasy 7

Since Barret is currently out of commission, the player will have Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Red. Before jumping into the fight, having a fully upgrades Mythril Rod for Aerith will be helpful in this fight. The ability that comes from this is called the Ray of Judgement, and it will be very useful for this fight against the tentacles on Jenova’s body. In the first phase, Jenova has three locations to attack, two tentacle arms and the center body. Focus attention on removing the tentacles first, as this will cause Jenova to stagger, making it more susceptible to damage. Using the Ray of Judgement at a fair distance is helpful to quickly removing them. Set Cloud or Tifa to attack using special moves the moment the stagger appears. This will send Jenova into its next phase. It is also recommended to save using any Limits until the final phase. There is a moment where popping the Limit at the appropriate time will completely destroy the remainder of Jenova’s health.

Within this phase, Jenova will use Vengeance, a move that can one-shot kill characters. Avoid getting too close to Jenova in this instance. There are also pillars hidden around the room. Get behind these to avoid getting hit by long-range attacks. Aerith’s Ray of Judgement is excellent in this phase as well. After a while, Jenova will enter the final phase where attacking it is completely useless and it will summon tentacles all around the map. Jenova will not get attacked until all of these tentacles are gone. Using Aerith is helpful here to avoid getting too close to the tentacles, especially since her damage output is pretty decent for taking them down. Using Cloud and Tifa is also useful, but since they are close-range fighters, it may be a bit more challenging to get in damage then escape without dying. Once all the tentacles are down, Jenova will be open to taking damage. This is an optimal time to use Limits to quickly take down Jenova. Players can unlock Tifa and Cloud their level two Limits by participating in the Wall Market tournament series in Free Match. Here, certain challenges will limit the types of characters and items players can use in each round. Defeating them will unlock a new and upgrade limit for each character, which is extremely helpful in all situations. Repeat this process until the fight is over.

Defeating Jenova will open up the next set up cutscenes and destroy it from this reality. The Final Fantasy 7 remake has done an excellent job in recreating one of the most beloved games to ever exist. New content including new chapters for players to explore new locations inside of Midgar and build characters that weren’t built upon in the original. The game did take a massive shift towards the ending of the title, but that would be diving into major spoiler territory. Up until the ending, Final Fantasy 7 is one of the greatest remakes to ever exist. The change from semi-turn based combat into an action RPG changes up the entire foundation of the gameplay. Combat combines what made the original series so loved with a modern spin that enhances what a modern Final Fantasy title should be. Hopefully moving forward, the series will maintain this new battle system and continue to build on it. While the future is unknown for the Final Fantasy series, the next title for the Final Fantasy 7 saga had set a new expectation to it. Will it continue the high-quality trend of its predecessor? Or will it turn into something entirely new? Only time will tell, but Final Fantasy fans will be anxiously waiting to see what happens next.
