Game Of Thrones: 10 People Cersei Lannister Should Have Been With Other Than Jaime
Contents
On Game of Thrones, Cersei Lannister only had eyes for her twin brother, Jaime. Obviously, this led to problems. What if she picked another partner?

From the very first episode, Game of Thrones introduced us to the incredibly problematic relationship between Cersei and Jaime Lannister. It goes without saying that the fact they are brother and sister makes their romance wrong from the beginning, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how unhealthy this relationship is.
In the end, Cersei and Jaime died in each other’s arms, but we can’t help but think that things could have ended differently if Cersei had just chosen a more appropriate partner. She is a beautiful and powerful woman with her fair share of suitors, so there were some good options available. Here are some people Cersei Lannister should have been with besides Jaime.
10 Robert Baratheon
Cersei became queen thanks to her marriage to Robert Baratheon, yet it was as far from a fairy tale marriage as you could get. These two were incredibly unhappy together and downright hated each other by the end. However, these also didn’t put much effort into the marriage.
If both of them had actually tried to make the relationship work, Westeros could have been in a lot better shape. Robert could have stopped drinking and visiting brothels, and Cersei could have stopped sleeping with her brother. Maybe they could have had a happy romance together.
9 Jon Snow
The thought of one of the biggest villains of the show being in a relationship with one of the biggest heroes seems strange, but it’s not that strange for Jon Snow. He has a track record of falling for women who should be his enemies, such as Ygritte and Daenerys.
Cersei, meanwhile, just wants power and to sit on the Iron Throne herself. Since Jon has no such desires, they might have been an ideal royal couple. Cersei could be queen, the North could unite with the rest of Westeros, and Jon might be able to dissuade her from some of her eviller tendencies.
8 Stannis Baratheon
Despite their armies fighting each other during the Battle of Blackwater, Cersei Lannister and Stannis Baratheon actually have a lot in common. Both are serious and powerful leaders with unrelenting determination to take the Iron Throne. Together, they could be Westeros’ power couple.
Following Robert Baratheon’s death, Cersei marrying Stannis would have been a smart political move. It might seem strange for a widow to marry her dead husband’s brother, but that’s pretty much how Ned and Catelyn Stark’s relationship started. It might not be a loving marriage, but it would be a powerful one.
7 Littlefinger
Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish is a man who is always looking for ways to climb the ladder of power in Westeros. It’s actually quite surprising that he didn’t attempt to situate himself as a potential partner for Cersei during her single years.
Once again, Cersei wouldn’t dare let Littlefinger sit on the Iron Throne over her, but she would probably see the benefits of having such a skilled political player for a partner. They would likely make an unstoppable pair so long as they don’t turn on each other.
6 Varys
Varys is another skilled player of the game of thrones who would be a valuable ally for Cersei to have. Varys was a mystery for much of the series, but in the end, we find that he does truly want what is best for the people of Westeros. He certainly doesn’t see Cersei as the best choice for a ruler, but if he was at her side, he could steer her in the right direction.
This would also be a relationship without much romance but it’s likely these two would have respect for each other. They are intelligent people who have accomplished a lot from their meager beginnings.
5 Bronn
Bronn is one of the least complicated people in Westeros. While others scheme and lie to get what they want, Bronn is an open book, ready to do any job for the right price. Cersei, being one of the wealthiest people in Westeros, could use such an uncomplicated man by her side.
Bronn has experienced a pretty substantial rise to power thanks to his alliance with the Lannisters. He would likely be open to marrying Cersei to get even more power and wealth. Meanwhile, Cersei would have an experienced cutthroat as a husband, which she would find very useful.
4 Loras Tyrell
Many marriages in Westeros are made as strategic moves, including Cersei’s own marriage to Robert Baratheon. Following Robert’s death, Tywin Lannister arranged for Cersei to marry Loras Tyrell to strengthen the union between two of Westeros’ most powerful houses.
Cersei was completely against the idea, but she didn’t give it much of a chance. Loras seems like a nice enough guy, and maybe that’s what Cersei needs. She has spent her life around terrible men; maybe she doesn’t realize how great it would be to marrying a good person, even if he wouldn’t be interested in her romantically.
3 Euron Greyjoy
The only romance we see Cersei have with someone who isn’t related to her is with Euron Greyjoy. Clearly, Cersei’s involvement in the relationship was only to keep her ally happy, but she might have dismissed their romance too quickly.
Euron might not be a smart guy, but that’s not what Cersei would be looking for. She is the intelligent one, and she just needs someone who will do what she says. Euron is that man, and seems to share her evil side as well.
2 Rhaegar Targaryen
Even before Cersei was betrothed to Robert Baratheon, she was promised to another powerful young man: Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar was the son of the Mad King, but had a much better reputation than his father as he was seen as a kind and generous man.
Not much is mentioned of this planned union in the show, but in the books, Cersei admits to being excited about marrying Rhaegar until the Mad King backed out. If they had married, Westeros might have been a much different place and Cersei might have been happy.
1 Oberyn Martell
Oberyn Martell established that he is no fan of the Lannisters after his sister was murdered on Tywin Lannister’s orders during the siege of King’s Landing. However, he is also a charismatic man and a smart politician. He would likely see the opportunity in marrying Cersei.
Joining the Lannisters with the Martells of Dorne would be another huge power move, and Cersei might actually grow to like the Red Viper. He is handsome, bold and smarter than most of the people in King’s Landing. And if that were married, Oberyn might have avoided having his head crushed.
