10 Focusing On Rory’s Life Outside Of Her Relationships

Much of Gilmore Girls is about Rory’s three major love interests and while it’s heartwarming watching Rory grow up and learn about what she wants, a fan thinks that the show could tell more stories about Rory’s life that don’t involve love and relationships.

In a Reddit thread about what Gilmore Girls could have less and more of, Reddit user captainmcpigeon wrote, “A little more effort spent on creating a rich life for Rory and a little less time spent on her boyfriends.”

9 The Characters Shouldn’t Enable Christopher

While Christopher has some charm and a good sense of humor, most viewers would agree that he is rarely there for Rory. He shows up in Stars Hollow from time to time and sees her at Yale periodically, but that’s about it.

Reddit user mvf52427 wrote that the characters shouldn’t keep “letting Christopher get away with being a crappy dad.” It seems like several fans share this sentiment. While Rory admits that her dad wasn’t around in the Netflix revival, it seems like something that everyone largely ignores before that.

8 Luke And Lorelai Should Have A Smoother Relationship

It can sometimes be dull when a couple begins dating right away on a TV show, but some people think that Lorelai and Luke take too long to date, and when they do enter a serious relationship, they have so many bumps along the road that it’s frustrating.

7 The Show Could Focus On Friendship More

6 Logan Doesn’t Need To Propose

Season 7 ends in an awkward way when Logan proposes to Rory and she says that she can’t marry him. Several viewers don’t think that this storyline seems realistic at all.

5 Rory Getting Pregnant Just Like Lorelai

Gilmore Girls fans also have some strong opinions about what to change about the Netflix revival A Year In The Life.

Reddit user ItziBitzispider doesn’t love that the revival ends with Rory telling Lorelai that she’s expecting a baby, writing, “The whole full circle, dynastic plan, ‘like mother like daugther’ thing… For me it’ss easy and predictable.” After waiting for years to hear “the final four words,” some viewers think that Rory could go down another path.

4 One Jackson Plotline Shouldn’t Exist

One Redditor dislikes “The Jackson vasectomy storyline” and several fans agreed that this wasn’t the best thing for the show to portray.

In season 5, Sookie wants Jackson to get a vasectomy, and in season 7, she finds out that he only pretended that he went through with it. This is awful and problematic, and while Sookie and Jackson are a relatable pair in many ways, this is the worst part of their love story.

3 Liz Should Become A Better Parent To Jess

It’s smart of Liz to realize that Luke could be a great influence on Jess and they teach each other so much during their time together. But at the same time, how could Liz leave her child?

Reddit user Kelpie-Cat would love to see “Liz confronting her relationship with Jess” and it’s true that when Liz plays a bigger role on the show, the focus is on her marriage to T.J. and their ups and downs. It would definitely be meaningful to see more communication between Liz and Jess.

2 What If Rory Was Rejected From Harvard?

Rory decides on Harvard or Yale and there doesn’t ever seem to be a question that she will attend an Ivy League school. It’s interesting to imagine what would happen if she didn’t actually get into the school that she’s always dreamed of.

Reddit user michiganpop thinks that Rory should receive a rejection letter from Harvard, writing, “it would be nice to see that everything doesn’t go as planned.”

1 Rory And Dean Should Break Up For A Reason Other Than Jess

When Rory and Dean break up in season 3, Dean has had enough of Rory’s feelings for Jess. While this is a memorable part of the show, not everyone loves it.

Reddit user QueenOfTheStreets thinks that these characters could split because of “mutually growing apart and differing goals, rather then the foolish love triangle.” Although it’s fun and dramatic to watch Jess create complications for Dean and Rory, it does seem like this could happen.
