GTA Trilogy Doesnt Have The Full Original Soundtracks [UPDATED]

Update (11/11/2021 1:00 PM): VGC reports Rockstar Games has updated the list of GTA: Trilogy songs to include “practically” every song missing from the soundtrack lists shared earlier in the week. The original story continues below.

Prior to its release Rockstar Games has officially revealed the soundtrack lists for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and has confirmed that the tracks removed from previous re-released versions are still missing. The long-anticipated GTA trilogy remaster finally launches digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, with a physical release to follow on December 7th. Players can prep their consoles in advance and begin pre-loading all three remastered titles before the collection hits platforms simultaneously at 10 am EST on November 11.

Announced in October following months of rumors and speculations, the Grand Theft Auto trilogy remaster is set to include revamped versions of the three PS2 series titles – Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with various upgrades, such as graphical improvements and modernized controls. Though gameplay footage has remained scarce since its first full trailer, a series of leaked early gameplay videos of the GTA Trilogy circulating online by players have given a clearer glimpse of what players can expect from the upcoming remasters. These include sneak peeks at its next-gen visuals, modernized gunplay similar to Grand Theft Auto V, and the return of its memorable soundtracks that have left keen memories in the minds of those who’ve played Rockstar’s classic titles.

In a press release provided to Screen Rant, Rockstar Games fully detailed the iconic soundtrack lists featured on its radios for the upcoming GTA trilogy remaster, with a confirmation that multiple songs from the previously re-released versions were still unavailable in the collection. Tracks from Michael Jackson, Rage Against The Machine, and a handful of other artists were originally removed from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas when the games were re-released in 2014 on mobile devices and for the PS3/PS4 with the exception of Grand Theft Auto 3 which hasn’t been altered. Oddly enough the list may not be completely comprehensive, as recently leaked gameplay footage of the remasters seem to have included songs by Sigue Sigue Sputnik, The Buggles, and Aneka that didn’t make it on the list. Nonetheless, the remastered collection will feature over 200 songs, on 29 different radio stations across all three titles.

Radio stations have been an integral part of Grand Theft Auto’s atmosphere over the years and have not only been memorabilia for players but have also helped Rockstar build its world with satirical advertisements. Knowing this, fans are eagerly awaiting a brand-new Grand Theft Auto game with new radios stations and it looks like Rockstar is preparing to fully deliver. A recent claim by rapper Snoop Dogg stated that famous rapper and CEO of Beats Electronics, Dr. Dre had been in the studio working on new music for an upcoming Grand Theft Auto project with the developer, exciting many fans that are thrilled to see that progress is being made on the next installment of the series.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition’s tracklisting is officially revealed and only a few songs are missing from the original release. Although soundtracks keep the titles distinctive from each other, the removal of songs from Grand Theft Auto is unavoidable due to expiring licenses, and players should anticipate it in all future Rockstar titles.
