Halo Infinite Campaign How to Get the Riven Mangler

One of the coolest new additions to the Halo Infinite campaign is the introduction of weapon variants for every single weapon, including the Riven Mangler. Halo Infinite’s campaign is the first open-world campaign in the series, and with that comes plenty of new activities. Weapon variants are one new addition. These are upgraded versions of base weapons and perform differently than they would by default or in multiplayer. Weapon variants can be unlocked in Halo Infinite by defeating special bosses in different locations on the ring. These targets are marked with a red triangle and corsairs on the Tac-Map in-game.

Weapon variants are extremely useful in Halo Infinite’s campaign, especially on Halo’s infamous legendary difficulty. One of the best weapons in the game on legendary, even in its default state, is the Mangler. The Mangler is a pistol that resembles the Mauler from Halo 3, but, instead of being a pistol/shotgun hybrid, the Mangler is simply a high-powered pistol that can three-shot Brutes. Its power makes it one of the most viable weapons in the early campaign missions, but, after progressing a bit through the campaign, players will be able to unlock the upgraded Riven Mangler.

Halo Infinite’s weapon variants are typically much better than their default versions. The Riven Mangler is a slower-firing, harder-hitting version of the Mangler that can two-shot Brutes even on legendary difficulty. To see the high-value target that carries this weapon on the Tac-Map, players will have to progress toward the second Story mission once they touch down on Zeta Halo. While heading north toward the second mission, they should make a waypoint to what looks like a bridge that connects the starting and northern fractured regions of the ring. The Banished will extend the bridge for Chief to cross. From there, players should head to Forward Operating Base Charlie. FOBs are locations Chief can clear of enemies and secure in order to spawn vehicles or weapons. These areas also spawn marines and save whatever weapon variants players unlock during Chief’s journey. Once FOB Charlie is secure, the high-value target Balkarus should appear close to the FOB’s location.

How to Defeat Balkarus in Halo Infinite

On Legendary difficulty, Halo Infinite’s Balkarus is quite a challenge for the early game. Balkarus is surrounded by reinforcement and equipped with a Plasma Cannon that melts Chief’s shields. However, due to Halo Infinite’s new mechanics in its open world, it can be a whole lot easier. Before leaving FOB Charlie, players should spawn the new Warhog variation, the Razorback. They’ll need to take the Razorback to the nearest Marine Rescue side mission and save the Marines from the Banished. After doing so, Chief can equip each Marine with the most powerful weapon in the general area, then hop back in the Razorback with them.

Players can take the Razorback to Balkarus and clear out his reinforcements with the overwhelming power of Halo marines equipped with Rocket Launchers. Marines are a great distraction for multiple enemies, allowing for a much easier boss kill. After defeating Balkarus, players should make sure to pick up the Riven Mangler from his body. The weapon variant will be retrievable at any FOB in Halo Infinite at any time from that point forward.

The Riven Mangler is one of the most powerful weapons in the Halo Infinite campaign and it’s also very fun to use. It has a lower mag size and fire rate when compared to the default Mangler but makes up for it in its upgraded accuracy, recoil, bullet drop, and damage. The weapon is an absolute necessity for the Legendary campaign, as its high power and default increased melee damage makes it an all-around Banished wrecker.
