Emilia Clarke, who plays the mysterious female lead in the upcoming young Han Solo spinoff movie, has shared a video from the set featuring everyone’s favorite Wookiee. Following the project’s infamous director kerfuffle that saw Oscar-winner Ron Howard replace Phil Lord and Chris Miller late in production, the film has (presumably) been sailing smoothly for the last month. Howard has been quite transparent through the whole process, sharing a variety of images on his social media platforms to give fans a peek behind the curtain. Among the photos he shared were Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and a shot of the Millennium Falcon traveling through hyperspace.
Of course, Howard is hardly the only member of the Han Solo creative team with a social media presence, so others involved with the film can share moments from their experience as well. As Clarke passed an Instagram milestone, she decided to celebrate for a bit with Chewbacca.
Taking, obviously, to her Instagram account, the actress expressed excitement over passing 10 million followers. She shared the news with Chewie, who enthusiastically ran around the set (said to be the Pinewood backlot) before engulfing Clarke in a giant, Wookiee-sized hug. You can check out the post in the space below:

While audiences are still somewhat skeptical of Han Solo’s prospects after its directorial shakeup, this short video is another illustration of how those making the movie are having a great time. Howard seems to be in childlike awe on a daily basis, grateful for the opportunity of making a Star Wars film. Clarke also appears to be enjoying herself, referring to the powers that be at Lucasfilm as “dreamboats” and calling Chewie a “furry ball of joy.” It’s nice to see that despite all the problems the anthology has encountered, spirits remain high. Woody Harrelson, who plays Han’s mentor, Beckett, believes the cast and crew are in good hands. Lucasfilm must be pleased with the way things are progressing if they gave Clarke the go-ahead to post a behind-the-scenes look at the walking carpet.
These brief teases make for excellent damage control and have given moviegoers things to speculate about, but what would really help change the conversation around Han Solo is something more official from the studio. Lucasfilm barely made any mention of the spinoff during their presentation at D23, so many are starting to wonder when some marketing materials will be unveiled. Word is information shall be released soon, so hopefully the near future provides content for fans to get truly excited about.
