Harry Potter: 5 Spells & Charms Pisces Would Master (5 They Would Fail At)
For a Pisces at Hogwarts, which spells and charms would they be naturally talented at, and which would have them struggling?

The most empathetic category of the Zodiac is Pisces, a Water sign that is claimed to bless those born under it with enormous (and innate) quantities of generosity and artistic inclination. These people are also known to be as wise as they are kindly, and rarely have a problem with opening their hearts for others.
Further, the students who go to Hogwarts are not universally talented, but find that their strengths are focused on specific realms of magic. So, here is a short list of Harry Potter spells that are most likely to be used by a Piscean, as well as those that they would struggle with.
10 Would Master: Revelio
A lot of the book spells have been omitted from the Harry Potter movies, Revelio being one them — as the Revealing Charm, it is employed to expose anything hidden, whether it’s an item, a note, a pathway, or even a disguise.
The Pisces, being prone to the vastness of their own imaginations, will exhibit a need to seek out clarity, which is something this spell is all about. Of course, Revelio wouldn’t work on enchantments like that on the Invisibility Cloak or even Polyjuice Potion, but it has a versatile range of effects, otherwise.
9 Would Fail: Tarantallegra
This spell is a comic addition to the main storyline, mentioned first when Draco forces Harry to do the most embarrassing, and unwilling, dance, during their “practice” duel under Gilderoy Lockhart’s supervision.
As this charm is designed to force its victim into physically moving, the Pisces would not be able to appreciate the hilarious nature of the whole thing, but rather feel deeply empathetic towards anyone exposed to Tarantallegra. These folk are gentle and mild-mannered, and hate the idea of such boisterous turbulence.
8 Would Master: Riddikulus
The Boggart Banishing spell is very much in line with the Pisces’ philosophy: even though the actual event, the conversion of the dark creature into something most certainly unterrifying, has generally amusing outcomes.
This is because those born under this sign understand the scum-like behavior of the Boggart, its habit of consuming the “fear” of innocent people much like a certain Stephen King Clown. Riddikulus won’t even take them much time to get the hang of, as they are blessed with a vast scope for fantasy.
7 Would Fail: Petrificus Totalus
The Full-Body Bind curse is not at all to the taste of the Pisces sign, largely because it demoralizes any dueling opponent by “freezing all motor functions.”
This spell is so cruel that it remains a surprise why it has not been banned along with the other unforgivables, but any Piscean would be able to sympathize with the feeling of horror and desperation felt by those on whom Petrificus Totalus is inflicted: the inability to move anything except the eyeballs is a literal nightmare.
6 Would Master: Expecto Patronum
The Patronus charm is not exactly simple, but effortless for anyone blessed by the Pisces to master. It expects the caster to extract the smallest quantities of hope and joy from the depths of their being, that too when they are being overwhelmed by the monstrous aura of Dementors.
This sign, known for their spiritual energy and intuition, would have no struggles in producing their Patronus, as they can tap into the limitless reserves of light they keep protected within themselves.
5 Would Fail: Protego
This is one of the most effective defensive spells in Harry Potter, as it involves the production of a magical shield between any two entities, like when Hogwarts tried to block Voldemort from entering with the enhanced version of this charm.
However, Pisceans are extremely free spirits, and the mere idea of blocking themselves against other people is something they cannot even imagine. As such, the Shield Charm would not be very effective in their hands, irrespective of its spectacular capabilities in combat.
4 Would Master: Expelliarmus
One of the best spells to use in battle, mostly due to its innate pacifist nature, is the Disarming Charm. The beauty of this spell is that it has the capacity to end a battle without anyone getting killed, or even hurt, if the duelists are quick enough.
Pisceans completely relate to the gentle, almost tender, quality associated with this kind of magic, considering that they are not given towards belligerence. In other words, they will always try their hardest to resolve conflicts without bloodshed.
3 Would Fail: Incendio
Incendio is an innocent spell, employed to produce useful flames, which can later be used for cooking, heating, and so on. At its most extreme, the Fire-Making Charm is an arsonist’s delight, since it doesn’t take a lot of hard work if one ever wants to burn something to ashes.
This potential for chaos, combined with the utter devastation that Incendio or its variants can wreak if used without control or common sense, makes this spell totally unpalatable to the Pisces (who also happen to be a Water sign.)
2 Would Master: Lumos
Lumos, the Wand-Lighting Spell, is one of the fundamentals that all students at Hogwarts must compulsorily master before they can move on to higher, riskier magic.
In a literal sense, this charm brings brightness to the darkest places, which can also be considered from the Pisces-specific metaphorical angle — it helps the caster perceive a world that they could not only seconds before they turn their wands on. This sign may be mysterious, but what drives them is their creativity as well as their desire to remain grounded.
1 Would Fail: Crucio
Although Crucio rarely, if ever, leads to death, it certainly makes one wish that they were dead. The hyper-empathic Pisces cannot tolerate this horrifying notion; their sensitivity and bias towards feelings at the cost of rational thinking will refuse to let them stand by and observe this unforgivable curse being used, let alone actually using it themselves.
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to believe that the Pisces might feel the pain of the Cruciatus curse in some twisted form of emotional surrogacy.
