The Harry Potter franchise is certainly not renowned for its abundance of comedy. However, like all the movies in the franchise, there are still plenty of funny moments in Goblet of Fire for fans to enjoy.

As the movies go on, each one has a more serious tone than the last and in this one, Harry unexpectedly finds himself taking part in the sinister Triwizard Tournament. Even though this movie seems like the real turning point where things get darker for Harry, it’s still not without its light-hearted and funny moments.

When Harry sees a random boot sitting at the top of a hill, he says what everyone else is thinking and questions why everyone is standing around that “Manky old boot.”Unbeknownst to Harry, the boot turns out to be a Portkey, one of the most magical Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire scenes. The Portkey is another means of magical transport in the wizarding world. “Technically It’s A Ferret.”

When Malfoy is about to set his wand on Harry, Alastair Moody steps in and uses transfiguration on Malfoy and turns him into a ferret. When asked by Professor McGonagall if it’s a student, he expertly replies, “Technically it’s a ferret” and in Moody’s defense, he’s not wrong.

It’s not the standard disciplinary technique normally used by a teacher, however, watching Malfoy squirming as a ferret gives everyone nothing but satisfaction and is a genius moment from Moody, although unbeknownst to anyone, it’s actually Barty Crouch Jr who should take the credit.
