The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure universe has given us a wide plethora of Stands, ranging from unstoppable offensive weapons to support utilities that assist its user’s allies. A wide diversity of what is displayed constantly keeps the anime interesting, unpredictable, and strange, especially in the case of the latter.

Some Stands defy the pre-established rules of its own universe, possessing peculiarities that are exclusive almost solely to them. By analyzing these anomalies and how they clash with story’s conventions, a better understanding can be gained of the structure behind the anime and the ways its form is overlooked in order to create an original tale.

10 Ratt: Two Identical Versions Of The Same Stand

From a passing glance, there appears to be nothing wrong with Bug-Eaten’s Stand, Ratt. It is as horrifying as it is straightforward; the creature summons a small tank that shoots bullets that can reduce its quarry into a puddle of viscous sludge.

However, what is often underappreciated is that when it was introduced, there were two identical versions of the same Stand. This was extremely unusual since no two Stands are supposed to be the same (even if some may be alike), remaining unexplained through the duration of the Diamond Is Unbreakable story.

9 Six Bullets: Six Stands With Their Own Personalities & A Feeding Requirement

Mista’s “Six Bullets” Stand breaks the series’ conventions for a number of reasons. Not only does he control six Stands instead of one, but each also has their own personality separate from his.

Their dispositions are so diversified that they will often quarrel amongst themselves even as they endeavor to vanquish their targets. Further, these Stands must be physically fed in order to function properly, a prerequisite that no other Stand in the series needs (as they are beings comprised of spiritual energy having little need for material sustenance).

8 Strength: Visible To The Naked Eye Of Non-Stand Users

The Stand of a primate named Forever, Strength was a massive boat that heeded its master’s call. It was able to bend and break itself to his whims, sealing his adversaries in steel tombs and almost succeeding in defeating the Stardust Crusaders, were it not for Jotaro Kujo’s heroics.

It breaks its own universe’s rules because it was visible to the naked eye of non-Stand users. Though it may have been justified through its immense presence, no other Stand (even ones more powerful which radiate greater energy, such as the World), share such a limitation.

7 Super Fly: Doesn’t Explicitly Answer To Its User

Super Fly was a massive tower that was able to imprison any who entered it. This made it incredibly difficult to catch its owner, especially since he could navigate the Stand with ease by using its bolts and wires to his advantage.

Where it is particularly unusual is through the fact that Super Fly does not explicitly answer the whim of its master. Toyohiro was unable to escape its clutches, requiring someone else to take his place in order for him to leave. This was a peculiar phenomenon, as few other Stand users struggle against their own spiritual manifestation so vehemently.

6 Deadly Queen: Two Different Stands In One

Deadly Queen was the Stand of Yoshikage Kira and one that was fiercely powerful. It had the ability to detonate anything, whether through direct contact with an opponent or by turning an object into an explosive and throwing it like a bomb.

As straightforward as it might seem, it also possessed a second skill. Kira could deploy a small tank from its hand which worked independently of itself, effectively creating two opponents to contend with. Though it was justified that Heart Attack was a part of Deadly Queen’s body, it doesn’t explain how Yoshikage could effectively control two dramatically different Stands at once.

5 Harvest: 500 Mini Stands With Their Own Personalities

Shigechi’s Stand, Harvest, is perhaps the most flagrantly egregious example of the series’ rules being defied. Though Yoshikage Kira may be able to effectively control two “Stands” and Mista is capable of six, the young boy has a daunting 500 tiny minions at his disposal.

Further, the Harvests themselves possess their own personality and were able to briefly exist after their user’s death. They did so to give Josuke and Okuyasu a hint as to Kira’s identity even though their user had already passed away minutes before.

4 Notorious B.I.G: Continued To Function After Its User’s Death

Notorious B.I.G was able to withstand an untold amount of abuse, enduring any attack its enemies dealt and consuming objects to increase its size. Though this makes it extremely powerful, its universe-defying aspect arose from the circumstances of its encounter with Team Bucciarati.

When its user, Carne, approached the airplane that they had intended to depart from, Mista shot him dead well before he got close. Nonetheless, the Stand was able to infiltrate the craft regardless, putting up one of the group’s greatest challenges despite its master having long since passed away.

3 Holy Kujo’s Stand: Dominated Its User & Nearly Claimed Her Life

JoJos Bizarre Adventure 10 Stands That Break The Universes Rules

While never named, Holy Kujo’s Stand was particularly odd for its ability to dominate its user and nearly claim her life. This was justified on account of the fact that she had a “weak will,” one too feeble to resist her own new power.

However, there are dozens of examples of such characters in the series who do not suffer the same debilitation. The Oingo Boingo brothers are an excellent demonstration of this, especially on account of the latter’s frequently proven cowardice and aversion to confrontation.

2 Epitaph: The Two Men Are The Same Person

JoJos Bizarre Adventure 10 Stands That Break The Universes Rules

Epitaph was the Stand of Doppio, one which allowed him to see into the future (complimenting King Crimson’s own skill to erase time). Together, they made for a deadly pair, much like Doppio and Diavolo himself.

The only complication is that despite their physical differences, the two men are the same person. Therefore, regardless of their split personalities, he should not have developed separate Stands to accommodate a state of mind, especially since there are other unhinged characters in the series who may suffer from similar mental health issues (such as Secco).

1 Star Platinum: Obtained The Skill To Stop Time After Battling DIO

Star Platinum was the Stand of Jotaro Kujo. At first, its expertise was through its strength and precision, able to extend its finger occasionally to provide a decent ranged attack.

After his battle against DIO, Jotaro’s Stand evolved the skill to stop time “since it was similar to the World.” This is an incoherent explanation for a dramatic increase in power, especially since such elements of the story had never been introduced before or since. Applying that logic, Polnareff’s “Silver Chariot” should have been able to learn something from Anubis since both Stands were reliant on their swords to achieve victory.
