King Of The Hill Bobby Hills 5 Best (& 5 Worst) Comedic Moments

On King of the Hill, carefree tween Bobby Hill often clashes with his conservative father Hank. While Hank wants his son to play sports and become a propane salesman like his father, Bobby aspires to become an entertainer. It turns out the younger Hill loves making people laugh, and his goal in life is to move to New York and make it as a successful comedian.

Whether by accident or intentionally, Bobby generates both major chuckles and major shrieks with his antics on King of the Hill. Whether he’s hanging out with witches, bombing at standup, or climbing the ladder as a plus-sized model, Bobby learns a lot about the comedic process, his own skill set, and life in general.

10 Worst: The Man With The Terrible Smell

If there’s one thing Bobby Hill loves more than comedy, it’s food. When the new pastor at the Hill’s church hosts a potluck, Bobby eats an entire casserole dish full of lutefisk, which is basically pickled white fish.

Needless to say, Bobby’s little picked fish binge doesn’t sit well with his digestive system, which causes him gastrointestinal distress at church. Through a series of unfortunate events that evolve in the bathroom, Bobby accidentally burns the entire church to the ground.

9 Best: The Propaniacs

Bobby doesn’t care too much for hard work, so when he is forced to spend the summer working with his dad at Strickland Propane, the younger Hill figures out a way to have some fun. During an annual sales event, Bobby uses his comedy skills to entertain attendees.

Bobby’s skit is such a hit that he develops his routine into a musical act called the Propaniacs. He and the other band members take their show on the road, wowing Texans with their humorous songs about the benefits of propane grills.

8 Worst: Cupid Bobby

Bobby maintains an on-again, off-again relationship with his neighbor Connie. First love is hard, and Bobby doesn’t take their break-up very well.

In fact, Bobby shows up to his best friend Joseph’s Valentine’s Day party dressed up in a very unflattering Cupid outfit. The lovesick tween strikes his now ex-girlfriend Connie in the face with a love arrow, causing him to be promptly kicked out of the party.

7 Best: The Stylish Southern Gentleman

There’s no doubt Bobby is an impressionable kid, and when he meets his neighbor Bill Dautervie’s distant relatives, who occupy a dilapidated mansion in rural Louisiana, Bobby becomes smitten with their decadent Southern lifestyle.

Donning suits, top hats, and canes, Bobby waxes poetic about the weather. “Well, I need a window seat because this flower is wiltin’,” he tells his father, who immediately guffaws at his son’s new affectation.

6 Worst: Tartuffe the Spry Wonder Dog

After Bobby gets himself in trouble for pulling pranks at home and at school, his mom Peggy suggests the boy should take a clown class at Arlen Community College. The instructor, Professor Twilley, turns out to be a demanding, classically trained actor who doesn’t appreciate fart jokes or slapstick humor.

Bobby develops his own traditional clown character, Tartuffe the Spry Wonder Dog, who he plans to show off at Arlen Middle School’s annual talent show. Fortunately, Hank saves his son from endless embarrassment by throwing a whoopie cushion on stage during Bobby’s bizarre performance.

5 Best: Husky Bobby

Bobby is definitely chubbier than other kids his age. While shopping at a local store for plus-sized kids, the natural-born entertainer receives an offer he can’t refuse: modeling for an upcoming advertising campaign for the store, H. Dumpty’s.

Soon, Bobby finds himself in the rough and tumble world of husky modeling. The food and attention woo Bobby at first, but he eventually realizes it’s not the life for him.

4 Worst: A Witch In East Arlen

After losing the main role in his school’s production of the musical Oklahoma, Bobby experiences a bit of an identity crisis. Desperate for a sense of belonging, the aspiring actor and comedian gets himself involved with an older group of New Age occultists who moonlight as a band of witches who call themselves the Coven of Artemis.

The leader of the cult, Ward, is an obnoxious video store clerk who uses the word “resplendent” in every other sentence. Bobby reaches a low point when Ward tells him he has to drink dog’s blood in order to join their group, which causes Bobby to realize how full of nonsense Ward and his associates are.

3 Best: Self-Defense Bobby

“That’s my purse! I don’t know you!” In one of the most hilarious King of the Hill episodes, a misguided and bullied Bobby takes the only fighting class that isn’t booked up at the gym: a woman’s self-defense course After learning to scream and pick his assailants in the groin, Bobby cruises around Arlen ready to attack anyone who stands in his way.

Things come to a head when Bobby gets in trouble at school and then kicks in his own father in the nether regions. Hank then shows his son some other ways to protect himself.

2 Worst: Bobby The Standup

When Bobby has a chance to meet one of his favorite comics, Booda Sacks, he works with the African American comic to harness his stand-up routine. Bobby takes Booda’s comments about getting in touch with his white roots to heart and inadvertently ends up on a website run by the KKK.

Bobby shows up to a stand-up event with his new jokes, which cause the crowd to erupt in anger over his racist jokes. It doesn’t take long for Bobby to realize the true nature of the website he stumbled upon.

1 Best: Rodeo Clown

Bobby defies his father by secretly becoming a rodeo clown. Hank and Peggy think Bobby is working on becoming a calf wrangling cowboy, but the boy is actually refining his comedy routine by working with the ostracized and worn down resident clowns.

When his parents find out, they automatically ban Bobby from future clowning. Bobby proves them wrong a few days later when he rescues his best friend Joseph from an angry bull at the rodeo by dressing up as a clown and distracting the creature.
