Warning! Spoilers for Suicide Squad King Shark #2 by DC Comics below

DC Comics just confirmed that King Shark isn’t a fan of the universe’s version of Baby Shark. In Suicide Squad #2, the Defacer asks King Shark for advice on how to calm down. When King Shark asks her what she’s already tried before, the Defacer tells him after learning her neighbor put on “Little Shark” to calm her daughter down, she tried watching it as well. However, when she sings the song to King Shark, he completely loses his cool.

For better or worse, Baby Shark is one of the most viral children’s songs ever. Since debuting in 2016, the video, where kids repeat a similar “baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo” line for more than two minutes, has received over 9.4 billion views on YouTube. While “Baby Shark Dance” has died down in relevance, it was everywhere when it hit its height in popularity. You couldn’t escape getting the catchy tune stuck in your head. The song was so popular that Nickelodeon recently spun it off into its own animated series, Baby Shark’s Big Show, and announced it will also be getting its own animated movie from Nickelodeon Studios.

In Suicide Squad King Shark #2 by Tim Seeley, Scott Kolins, John Kalisz, and Wes Abbott, King Shark finished his most recent fight in the Wild Games and meets up with the Defacer. After overhearing a conversation between the Defacer and B’wana Beast about how she considers him one of her friends, King Shark wonders why she lied to him – believing an earlier conversation confirmed they weren’t. However, the Defacer tells him that she’s really sorry for what she said when she was stressed out and appreciated being there for him. After agreeing to be friends again, the Defacer reveals she used to sing a “Little Shark” song to keep herself calm. However, when she starts singing, King Shark screams never to sing it again.

It can’t be easy to be a shark and have to hear people singing the DC Universe’s version of “Baby Shark” over and over again. Clearly, King Shark has heard enough, as even a small sample of hearing the song makes him burst out in rage.

Since Suicide Squad King Shark is a digital-first series, readers who have skipped ahead already know that the song will play a future role in King Shark’s upcoming fights at the Wild Games. While the “Baby Shark”-esque song might have been designed to keep children staring at monitors, the song enrages King Shark like nothing else has – which honestly, makes sense. Readers can see King Shark lose his cool as Suicide Squad King Shark #2 is in comic book stores now.
