Six months after the game’s original launch date of October 2020, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has officially been delayed again. The game, which was most recently slated for a Spring 2021 release date, has now been delayed indefinitely. While the game is reported to be bigger than any LEGO Star Wars game before it and make major changes to the LEGO game formula, TT Games admits that it cannot complete the task by the deadline, and needs more time to make the game what it is intended to be. Fans won’t be playing LEGO Star War: The Skywalker Saga when they expected, and patience may be running thin.

An announcement trailer for LEGO Skywalker Saga premiered at E3 2019 during Microsoft’s press conference, and since then fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the game’s release. There are apparently a lot of exciting things coming to the LEGO game, like the ability to play through all nine Star Wars films in an open-world-style LEGO game, which has never been done before. Gamers will also be able to take on the mantle of around 300 playable characters, from mainstream icons to well-loved side characters. Star Wars fans have been itching to play, but it seems like they’ll have to wait even longer to fulfill their Sequel Trilogy LEGO Star Wars fantasies.

In a tweet by TT Games, the developer of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it was announced the game will be delayed even further. The developer cites needing more time, presumably to complete and polish the game up to its and publisher WB Interactive’s quality standards. With no concrete release date as of now, TT Games promises an updated launch time as soon as possible, in its attempt to create the “biggest and best-ever LEGO game.”

Many fans took to the Twitter comments to express their great dismay at the announcement. While LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to include massive worlds for players to explore and some of the most iconic Star Wars locales, fans are not quick to excuse the development team for yet another launch delay. Some fans are more upset at TT Games insisting on a release date, only to fall short, and would rather them have admitted the slow development time from the start. Still, there are plenty of fans who encourage developers to take time developing games, insisting that it is better for a launch to be delayed than to repeat mistakes of rushed games.

No matter the stance, the news is still disappointing for anyone exciting to jump back into the LEGO Star Wars Universe, especially as Yaddle, or any of the other 300 playable characters in the game. For all its promise, though, what LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga lacks now is a release window.
