Marvel 10 Best Versions Of Amadeus Cho

Amadeus Cho has come a long way since Marvel Comics introduced him. He started off as a child who had someone trying to kill him and he eventually ran across Hulk and became his temporary sidekick, almost a modern-day Rick Jones. Cho remained in that sidekick role for a few years, moving on to Hercules after Hulk.

However, there were several ways where Cho differed from Rick Jones, the biggest being that he was one of the smartest characters in the Marvel Universe. Cho did have a moment that made him just like Rick Jones in Hulk comics. Cho became a Hulk himself and remains a gamma-powered superhero in the Marvel Universe.

10 Hulk’s Sidekick

The least interesting version of Amadeus Cho was his original appearances in Hulk comics. The story wasn’t that interesting, with Cho as a teen genius who had a strange friendship with Hulk.

Cho was a super genius but he was mostly just a Hulk fanboy and hung onto his hero-worship as Hulk continued to rampage through the country. It seemed obsessive for someone who was supposed to be so smart and he was just a precocious kid for most of the run.

9 Illuminati

Amadeus Cho has always held himself to a higher standard than others. He refused to work with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he saw them as a warmongering association. He refused to conform to the ideals of other hero teams in the Marvel Universe and especially hated The Illuminati for banishing Hulk from Earth.

That made it shocking when Cho joined The Illuminati, although it was due to the Avengers hunting both him and the group down. It was an act of convenience but betrayed his previous beliefs.

8 Amadeus Cho In The Savage Land

Amadeus Cho became much less interesting when he aged. This was shown when he appeared in the Savage Land in 2013’s Savage Wolverine series. Wolverine and Shanna the She-Devil were teaming up in the Savage Land when they found Cho with one of the tribes there.

Cho was pretending to be a god as he tried to find a way to protect a mysterious machine that imprisoned a dangerous god. Despite his immense intelligence, he was unable to stop Hulk and Wolverine from accidentally damaging the machine and releasing the evil Morrigon onto the world. After being built up as a highly intelligent character, Cho was making so many bad decisions at this point in his life.

7 Raging Hulk

Marvel 10 Best Versions Of Amadeus Cho

World War Hulk saw Bruce Banner’s Hulk return to Earth and go on a rampage of terror against all Earth’s heroes. It was an act of revenge for what he believed The Illuminati did to kill his family on Sakaar. In the case of Amadeus Cho, it was different. He lost control and turned into the same rage monster that Banner did at times, becoming one of Marvel’s most powerful gamma-powered characters.

It made little sense because Banner’s childhood trauma triggered his rage and Cho never had that. There was one interesting part of the story, as Cho was inside his mind fighting the rage monster the best he could. However, this turned the Totally Awesome Hulk into another regular Hulk and ruined what made him special.

6 Hercules’ Sidekick

While Amadeus Cho was not that interesting as Hulk’s sidekick, he grew into his character when he began working with Hercules. Cho was completely different when he was with Hercules, who he met during the World War Hulk storyline while he was trying to help Bruce Banner. Instead of just being a sidekick, Cho became an ally.

Cho used his intelligence to help Hercules in battle. It was Cho’s brains that could work out solutions to any problem instantly and that superpower came into effect in this Hercules run and made him a superhero without needing any special powers outside of his own brain.

5 Brawn

After Amadeus Cho lost control and began to declare war on Earth’s superheroes and his former friends, he also fought his own battle within his mind. At the end of the war, Cho destroyed the rage monster, but it had a side effect.

Cho depowered somewhat. He remained a gamma-powered hero, but he was no longer the ultra-powered Hulk. While smaller, he was now in control, and his strength levels lessened. He changed his name to Brawn and used his brainpower once again giving him a change that remained to this day. It made Cho a more interesting character, but he disappeared from many comics after this.

4 Prince Of Power

While Cho was one of Hercules’ closest allies, he got a chance to shine on his own for a time in Hercules comics. There was a war amongst the gods of Olympus and Hercules was caught in the crosshairs. The shocking twist came when Athena betrayed Hercules.

With the demigod appearing to die, Athena revealed that made Amadeus Cho his replacement as the Prince of Power. This was where Cho proved he was a true hero when he rebelled against this new role. He risked everything, even his own life. to reject the power that belonged to Hercules, and was one of his first genuine heroic moments.

3 The Champions

Amadeus Cho has been a member of two different superteams. The first that he joined was The Champions, as one of their first members. He was the first person the team sought out to join them when Ms. Marvel, Nova, and Spider-Man decided to create the team.

It was a perfect fit for Cho, who was still Hulk at this time. He was against most forms of authority after feeling betrayed by many, and The Champions were a team that wanted to help the people on the streets, giving Cho a chance to make Hulk into a hero that people loved, rather than fear.

2 Totally Awesome Hulk

It was controversial when Marvel decided to create new young heroes and replace its lineup of superstar characters all at one time. Some of these new characters lasted, with Ironheart and Amadeus Cho’s Hulk as two examples.

Cho became the Totally Awesome Hulk when he saved the world from an over-radiated Hulk and ended up with gamma-radiated powers himself. This gave Marvel a chance to reintroduce a new Hulk, one that some unpopular opinions felt should have replaced Banner as Hulk for good. It revitalized the Hulk comics, giving Cho superpowers that have lasted to this day.

1 Agents Of Atlas

The best version of Amadeus Cho came after he became Brawn, and with his second superhero group. This was Agents of Atlas and was a team that brought together a team of Asian superheroes to defend the world abroad.

S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo, who MCU fans met in WandaVision and Ant-Man, formed the team through the Atlas Organization and sought the world’s greatest Asian heroes. Of these, it was Brawn that took the role as the team leader. He was young, but thanks to his intelligence, his loyalty, and his sense of morality, he ended up as the best version of a hero since his introduction.
