The MCU is set to bring back some famous names from pre-MCU Marvel movies, and the pre-MCU Marvel TV shows shouldn’t be left out of the fun.

Marvel 10 Characters From PreMCU TV Series Who Should Crossover

Much to everybody’s surprise, Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man sequel. Though little information about the character’s appearance has been revealed, there are some strong implications about his involvement. The biggest, naturally, is that a multiverse is going to factor in the next phase of the franchise.

If the door can open to Electro, then it can also be opened for characters from other non-MCU Marvel franchises as well — and not just the movies. Before and after the birth of the MCU, Marvel produced a lot of TV shows over the years, with lots of characters that deserve a second look and some that would just be great nostalgic fun.

10 The ’70s Incredible Hulk

Though it’s been somewhat memed into relevance, The Incredible Hulk television series debuted in 1977 and remains a classic. Bill Bixby brought a nuanced humanity to the role of David Banner (not Bruce, for some strange reason) and Lou Ferrigno delivered an iconic Hulk. Sadly, Bill Bixby passed away but Lou Ferrigno remains as active and muscular as ever. Arguably, he got even bigger after the show’s end.

The MCU Hulk is a CGI giant but in a multiverse with infinite realities, there would be room to include a slightly different and lo-fi version of the character. It would be a great nostalgic nod for longtime fans. This also wouldn’t be Ferrigno’s first dance with the MCU, as he’s provided the Hulk’s voice work and roars in the cinematic universe.

9 Dottie Underwood (Agent Carter)

One of the very best Marvel shows of all time is the sadly short-lived Agent Carter, which follows Peggy Carter’s life following the “death” of Capt. America and the foundation of S.H.I.E.L.D. Though Peggy got her deserved end in Avengers: Endgame, many characters from the series deserve another shot as well. Dottie Underwood is just one of the many.

This friend turned villain featured in some of the best episodes of the series. Bridget Regan brought a sly menace to the character, who turned out to be a Soviet spy and assassin. Her fate after the show is unknown and her story is worth picking up down the road.

8 Nick Fury (Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD)

Samuel L. Jackson is iconic in the role of Nick Fury. He’s such an integral part of the MCU that he’s getting his own Disney+ series, something fans say is long overdue. Few fans may be aware that he’s actually not the first live-action Nick Fury, though. That distinction belongs to none other than Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD is a 1998 telefilm that was intended as a backdoor pilot to an eventual series starring the former Knight Rider star as in the title role, although the pilot never picked up enough steam. Thanks to the strange possibilities of a multiverse, the two Furys could face off in the future. An appearance from Hasselhoff’s Fury could also address the fact that just as it is in the comics, there are two Nick Furys — one white, and one Black.

7 Netflix’s Punisher

The Marvel Netflix lineup was meant to tie-in to the MCU and at the beginning, there were enough references to suggest they did. That eventually got minimized to the point of confusion, though, with the series seemingly acting in their own world divorced of the Infinity Saga. Nevertheless, several Marvel Netflix characters deserve a full MCU showcase, with The Punisher being one of many.

The Punisher is just one of the things fans miss about the Netflix shows. Jon Berenthal was outstanding as Frank Castle, bringing a dark but human reality to the violent character that made him more than the one-dimensional grimdark action hero of earlier film versions.

6 FX’s Legion

Legion is in a strange corner of the larger Marvel live-action universe, as it basically exists in a realm all by itself. Tangentially connected to X-Men, Legion nevertheless charted its own course over three seasons on FX.

The reality-warping powers of Legion — the insanely powerful son of Professor Charles Xavier — provide an easy opportunity for him to crossover into the now-combined reality of the X-Men and MCU. Noah Hawley wrote and produced this outstanding series, which is regarded as one of the best and most underrated superhero shows of the last decade. Though it might be an odd fit, Legion would be a good candidate for a crossover.

5 Colleen Wing (Iron Fist)

It goes without saying that Iron Fist is generally considered the weakest link among the Marvel Netflix shows. One bright spot from the otherwise forgettable series is actress Jessica Henwick, who starred as Colleen Wing.

Colleen Wing is one of the Daughters of the Dragon, a superb martial artist, and friend to Danny Rand. She outshined him in his own series and again in the Defenders limited series that brought all of the Marvel Netflix characters together for a less than stellar tag-team battle against The Hand.

4 Netflix’s Kingpin

Spider-Man is a major cornerstone of the MCU now. One of his greatest villains in the comics is Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. Like Electro, a screen version already exists and he’s the perfect candidate for a crossover comeback. Vincent D’Onfrio brought an intense and unpredictable energy to the classic character on Daredevil.

It’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role after him and with Daredevil’s tangential connection to the MCU, it only makes sense to leverage him — especially if a Sinister Six is in the offing, which it seems like it is. His reintroduction is a must for the franchise.

3 Agent Sousa (Agent Carter)

Another great character from Agent Carter is Daniel Souza. Peggy Carter’s one-time love interest got a fitting and surprising sendoff at the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — another MCU show whose connection is tangential at best — but that doesn’t mean that his story should necessarily be over. In fact, it probably isn’t.

The show ended with Souza and new romantic partner Quake going off into space together. It just so happens Nick Fury is out there at the moment (See: Spider-Man: Far From Home) and has his own series coming in the future.

2 Netflix’s Jessica Jones

Though she may not look like it and especially because of her baggage, Jessica Jones is one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Universe and is also one of the most powerful. Her Netflix series gave her a fantastic showcase, especially for Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter, who made Jessica one of her best roles.

Given her popularity and proximity to other characters on this list who would make sense in the MCU, it’s hard to imagine leaving Jessica out. Jones, along with Luke Cage and other characters in her orbit, would make a powerful addition to the MCU either in the films or other streaming series.

1 Netflix’s Daredevil

If Kingpin is going to show up in the MCU, then Matt Murdock aka Daredevil has to as well. Following a laughable movie from the early 2000’s, one of the marquee Marvel Comics characters finally got the spotlight he deserved in the Netflix series. Arguably, Netflix’s Daredevil started it all not just in terms of Netflix’s MCU shows, but in the succeeding series’ tones and styles as well.

Charlie Cox was outstanding in the role of lawyer Matt Murdock, who gradually becomes a vigilante in Hell’s Kitchen. Daredevil is a character who will absolutely graduate to the MCU in some form. It only makes sense to use the great actor and history established in the series when he does. That, and he’s the most deserving of a Disney+ reboot.
