Marvel Contest Of Champions Adds Eternals Heroes Ikaris & Sersi

Version 33.0 for Marvel Contest of Champions introduces two new heroes to the Contest, both of whom feature in the forthcoming Eternals film – Ikaris and Sersi. Of course, this isn’t the first time the mobile fighting game has added characters popularized by their big screen appearances. In August, for example, Marvel Contest of Champions brought Peni Parker into the mix, a few years following her big-screen debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Other characters best known for their Spider-Verse appearances have previously made the cut, as well. Spider-Ham serves as one such hero, joining the Contest of Champions roster nearly 12 months ago in December 2020. Spider-Gwen entered the fray a few years prior in 2015, three years ahead of her animated outing in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Given the imminent release of yet another big Marvel movie, it’s no surprise that another new set of heroes have found themselves added to the Marvel Contest of Champions roster.

The latest heroes to enter the Contest include two characters from Eternals, the Marvel Studios film that lands in theaters later this week. Developer Kabam added the heroes in question – Ikaris and Sersi – in Contest of Champions’ recently released V33.0 update. Despite being an incredibly powerful Eternal, Sersi prefers to live among humans. Sersi’s nothing if not formidable, though, courtesy of her ability to manipulate any non-sentient matter she comes into contact with. A Jack Kirby creation, Ikaris constitutes another Eternal who boasts remarkable abilities, which range from super strength and cosmic energy projection to flight and regeneration.

Released in late 2014, Marvel Contest of Champions counts as but one of the many Marvel mobile games on the market. MARVEL Future Revolution just launched in August, providing players with the first Marvel-branded open-world action RPG to appear on mobile devices. Of course, the likes of Marvel Puzzle Quest and Marvel Strike Force continue to receive updates, as well.

The comic giant’s heroes, villains, and anti-heroes aren’t only making waves on-the-go, either. Console and PC have no shortage of Marvel adventures out in the wild, one of which arrived last week in the form of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy from Deus Ex studio Eidos-Montréal. Next year will see XCOM developer Firaxeis roll out tactical RPG Midnight Suns; meanwhile, Insomanic Games remains hard at work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.
