Hasbro’s Marvel Legends toyline is getting a new 6″ figure of Thanos ahead of Avengers: Infinity War. The comic book-inspired figure has the Mad Titan’s classic armor and helmet, as well as the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet. The toy was teased for the first time at SDCC 2017.

2018 appears to be the biggest year yet for Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line, as the company has already broken a record by announcing eight waves of figures, all of which to be released in the span of a single year. Six of these are connected to the release of an upcoming film. Deadpool 2 will get two waves, with the second series including Omega Red and Lady Deadpool. Venom will get his own Marvel Legends toyline for the first time, and both Spider-Man and the X-Men will get at least one series in the coming months. Hasbro is also planning two waves for Avengers: Infinity War, which is easily the most anticipated superhero film of the year.

A comic book version of Thanos will be released this year as a Walmart Exclusive Marvel Legends action figure. The grinning Mad Titan looks like he’s about to wreak havoc on the universe while wielding the fully assembled Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos’ head can be swapped out with a head that has a more serious, grim expression. The figure also comes with an interchangeable hand that isn’t wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. This version of the character is a repaint of the 2015 Thanos build-a-figure.

Despite the popularity of the Mad Titan, this is the villain’s first single release retail figure. As previously noted, Thanos was the build-a-figure in the 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron series. The MCU version of the character will be the build-a-figure in this year’s first Avengers: Infinity War wave. Since each figure in a series retails at $20, build-a-figures can be rather costly for customers.

Due to this issue, there are likely many Marvel Legends fans who have been unable to add the Mad Titan to their collection. For this reason, we can expect the Walmart Exclusive figure to be a huge hit with both fans and collectors. Considering the character’s rising popularity and previous lack of availability as an action figure, it shouldn’t be too surprising if Thanos becomes the best-selling Marvel Legends toy of 2018.
