Marvel Mightve Just Spoiled SpiderMan No Way Homes Ending

Marvel Studios may have spoiled the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home through the movie’s latest TV spot. Arguably the most-anticipated film of 2021, the upcoming Jon Watts-directed project is poised to end Tom Holland’s first trilogy as Spider-Man in the MCU. Given its culminating nature, countless theories have floated around about how exactly Spider-Man: No Way Home will end. But even before the film hits theaters exclusively, Marvel Studios may have secretly revealed how Peter Parker’s biggest personal adventure yet wraps up.

There’s a lot to be excited about in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Picking up after the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: No Far From Home, the threequel will see Peter deal with the immediate aftermath of his superhero identity being revealed to the world. Aside from that, he also needs to address the arrival of villains from other universes such as Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. As it turns out, Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) tampered spell exposed Earths to various multiversal threats, allowing them to terrorize his home planet. As partners, Marvel Studios and Sony have run a measured marketing campaign for the film to preserve its story, but a new Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spot may have very well spoiled the movie’s ending.

As part of the blockbuster’s ongoing promotional efforts, a new promo clip from Sony Pictures Singapore has been released featuring several fresh clips from the film. Titled “End,” the 15-second spot’s most interesting bit centers on a bloodied Peter telling Doctor Strange to “do it.” The sorcerer then nods at him as he proceeds to cast a spell. While the video doesn’t reveal what exactly the pair is planning, there are clues in this exchange that suggest that this takes place on the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s third-act battle that is set in the Statue of Liberty. For starters, Peter is looking all bruised and banged up, implying that he’s just been in an intense fight. Secondly, Doctor Strange’s background shows the sun coming up, lining up with the final action set piece’s timeline, as the aforementioned scuffle primarily takes place in the middle of the night.

Despite this tantalizing glimpse, questions remain over what exactly Peter might want Doctor Strange to do. Chances are that this is where the sorcerer properly recasts the spell that he botches early on in the movie. Looking at Doctor Strange’s background, the same glowing light with various scripts circles him. Peter’s permission is his way of accepting the fact that if he wants the world to forget that he’s Spider-Man, there won’t be any exceptions to it. That means that Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon), and all of his Avengers teammates will no longer have any recollection of him being the wall-crawling hero. It’s worth remembering that when Doctor Strange attempted to perform the enchantment the first time in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter wanted to exclude certain people from the spell, arguing that they are his closest family and friends. Another possibility is that this is the moment that Doctor Strange sends all the interdimensional villains to their respective universes. Peter was also initially against the idea, as he empathized with the bad guys. But perhaps he realizes that there’s no way to resolve his issue without sending them back.

However Spider-Man: No Way Home ends will expectedly be the starting point for the new Spider-Man trilogy from Marvel Studios and Sony. It’s been confirmed that the threequel will not be the end of Holland’s hero in the MCU, as a set of new films are already in the works. Undoing Mysterio’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) revelation and allowing Peter to regain his anonymity is a more much interesting premise for his next adventure as he officially begins college.
