The developer behind Marvel’s Avengers has revealed yet another alternate character skin for Spider-Man, and it’s one that ties back to the hero’s earlier days as an aspiring wrestler. Spidey was announced as a PlayStation-exclusive character for Marvel’s Avengers before the game was released last August, and is now set to arrive as part of the Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event next week.

Unlike previous post-launch characters like Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther, Spider-Man’s Marvel’s Avengers content won’t consist of a large story campaign like this summer’s Marvel’s Avengers: War For Wakanda expansion. Instead, Spidey’s story will be told through audio logs and illustrated cutscenes that players unlock by completing Avengers Initiative challenges. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics has promised around 40 different alternate costumes for Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers, including the 1940’s-style Spider-Man Noir suit and the silver-and-black Spider-Armor.

Over on Twitter, Marvel’s Avengers posted a brief clip of Spider-Man swinging into action while wearing another one of these alternate character skins: the Wrestler Outfit. In various versions of the Spider-Man mythos, Peter Parker initially attempted to use his arachnid-inspired powers for fame as a professional wrestler, only for the tragic death of his beloved Uncle Ben to push him toward the path of a crimefighter instead. Video game adaptations like the Insomniac-developed Marvel’s Spider-Man have featured their own takes on Peter’s wrestling attire, and the Marvel’s Avengers iteration features Spidey in a simple red sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and a metallic blue-and-red luchador mask that somewhat resembles the iconic red cowl he would later don as a hero.

The upcoming Marvel’s Avengers version of Spider-Man is completely separate from the one featured in the PlayStation-exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man series, instead featuring Peter about a year into his career as a costumed crimefighter. Marvel’s Avengers will see Spidey join forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to stop A.I.M. from upgrading their robotic Synthoid army, and a recent illustrated trailer shows the Webhead palling around with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow when he isn’t out battling the forces of evil. Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac recently praised Crystal Dynamics for its take on Spidey’s classic red-and-blue Iconic Suit design shortly after it was unveiled earlier this month, and the crew behind Marvel’s Avengers celebrated the hero’s impending arrival by recreating the old “Spider-Man Pointing” meme on social media.

As a live-service game, Marvel’s Avengers has drawn plenty of criticism for its heavy reliance on microtransactions, with one player calculating that it would cost over $3,000 to purchase every unlockable skin and cosmetic item in Marvel’s Avengers’ online marketplace. Crystal Dynamics has since promised to start implementing a way for players to unlock Marvel Avengers cosmetics through gameplay, which will certainly be welcome news for fans hoping to swing around in one of Spider-Man’s many alternate costumes after the With Great Power Hero Event launches on November 30.
