MCU 10 Duos Who Should Have Had More Screen Time Together

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been filled with different team-ups, from lifelong best friends to fan-favorite couples, since its start in 2008. Viewers have been able to see a number of these duos grow and develop over the four phases of the MCU.

As pleasurable as it may have been to watch pairings such as Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes or Tony Stark and Pepper Potts throughout the years, there are a number of duos who deserved to have more time together on the big screen. They certainly could have helped to increase the fandom even further and would have allowed viewers to see another side to the characters that fans hadn’t seen before.

10 Tony And Morgan Stark

Father-daughter duo Tony and Morgan made their debut in Avengers: Endgame, only moments before Tony’s heroic sacrifice during the final battle of the film. The addition of Morgan to the family had been teased in Avengers: Infinity War and brought delight to many fans when it became an actuality.

While the few scenes that include Tony and Morgan are heartwarming and endearing, it doesn’t quite feel like enough. Audiences were not able to see Tony adapt as a parent or anything from Morgan’s first five years, which almost feels like a robbery when considering that fans won’t be able to see them together any further in Morgan’s life.

9 Gilgamesh and Thena

The recent release of Marvel’s Eternals introduced several new characters to the MCU, including Angelina Jolie and Don Lee’s portrayals of Thena and Gilgamesh. The pair have a bond unlike the rest of the group that develops even further after Gilgamesh volunteers to watch over Thena during the centuries that the Eternals spend apart.

Their friendship is only viewed through small glimpses, which is understandable given the long list of heroes included in the film, but it did leave fans wanting more. Since Gilgamesh does die at the hands of a Deviant, more of Thena’s relationship with him could have been included, particularly during the times when the two of them were left alone as viewers, unfortunately, won’t be able to see any more of their bond moving forward.

8 Bucky Barnes And Natasha Romanoff

Though Bucky and Natasha are often around one another, especially in the group fans have deemed “Cap’s Quartet” that includes Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, the two hardly have any one on one interactions. Given their similar histories of serving a criminal organization against their own wishes or beliefs, it is shocking that Bucky and Natasha never connected on screen.

The lack of scenes between these two in the movies comes off as an even bigger loss to those familiar with the comics as Bucky and Natasha’s understanding of one another’s pasts kindles a romance between the two of them. While the MCU versions of Bucky and Natasha do go through their own healing processes on their own, seeing them have some sort of heart to heart together would’ve added a wonderful touch.

7 Wanda And Pietro Maximoff

After their brief introduction in the post-credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, fans were able to see the Maximoff twins together in action during Avengers: Age of Ultron. The movie divulges into Wanda and Pietro’s backstory and shows the close bond the siblings have as they face a number of hardships before they are ultimately separated in the end.

Pietro’s passing does further Wanda’s character development, but it would have been enjoyable to see these iconic twins joining the Avengers together. There was a lot of buzz and excitement after the initial appearance of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, so to watch Pietro’s death and realize that Wanda would be proceeding in the MCU alone after only one movie together was heartbreaking.

6 Stephen Strange And Loki Laufeyson

Since this magical duo met very briefly towards the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok, many have been craving more interactions between Loki and Stephen. This desire stems from the fans wanting to see the magical trio of Loki, Stephen, and Wanda Maximoff fighting alongside one another on the big screen and with Wanda’s confirmed appearance in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, it is only fair that Loki gets more screen time with Stephen as well.

The two’s witty, intelligent and magic-wielding personalities would mesh on screen in a way that would no doubt be entertaining to all watching, so one can only hope they meet again on the big screen soon.

5 Vision And Darcy Lewis

Vision and Darcy met during episode seven of WandaVision entitled ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’ and spent a decent portion of that time together, but that was about it. Their dialogue was both comedic and touching as Darcy caught him up on his life outside of Westview before Vision realizes he can simply fly away to return to Wanda.

This unexpected duo felt very natural to watch on screen as Darcy comforted Vision in a way few have, giving him a sense of genuine friendship that he may not have truly felt before, so it would’ve been nice to have that further explored before the series wrapped up.

4 Scott Lang And Jimmy Woo

Scott and FBI Agent Jimmy Woo met one another during Ant-Man and The Wasp as Agent Woo was the one monitoring Scott’s house arrest sentence he was issued after the events of Captain America: Civil War. A lot of the Ant-Man sequel is spent with Jimmy attempting to catch Scott breaking the terms of his house arrest, but there are also moments that suggest the two could have formed a hilarious friendship with each other.

It was proven in WandaVision that Scott had an impact on Jimmy’s life as Jimmy perfectly executed the magic trick he had seen Scott do, so a deeper look into what could have blossomed between them would have been wonderful. Maybe one day the fans will be able to see the two finally going out to dinner as was joked about towards the end of Ant-Man and The Wasp.

3 Carol Danvers And Thor Odinson

MCU 10 Duos Who Should Have Had More Screen Time Together

Carol and Thor didn’t meet until the beginning of Avengers: Endgame. Thor sizes her up a bit before declaring that he “likes this one,” but they don’t really interact again for the rest of the film. As these two characters are at the top of the list for the seemingly never-ending debate on who the most powerful Avenger is, it would be nice to see them fight alongside each other or potentially even against each other, even if it’s just a friendly sparring match.

Audiences got a hint of what this could look like in the seventh episode of the Disney+ series What If…? entitled “What If… Thor Were an Only Child?” but more on-screen moments with Carol and Thor would undoubtedly be entertaining as well.

2 Steve Rogers And Sharon Carter

MCU 10 Duos Who Should Have Had More Screen Time Together

Steve and Sharon were originally just neighbors in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but it is revealed later on in that film that Sharon was an undercover agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. called Agent 13. Steve ends up heavily relying on Sharon and the two wind up becoming romantic interests for each other, leading to a kiss in Captain America: Civil War.

This act of affection came across as a bit rushed to many fans because of the lack of screen time the pair shared leading up to it. A lot of their previous scenes were more business than anything and didn’t show much emotional connection between the two. The inclusion of more screen time with Steve and Sharon could have easily made their kiss feel less abrupt.

1 Bruce Banner And Betty Ross

Bruce and Betty first crossed paths while they were in college together, where they fell in love before Bruce ultimately left her after the accidental creation of the Hulk. They reunited in The Incredible Hulk and experienced the events of that film together before they were separated once again. Betty is never seen again after this film and isn’t mentioned even after the return of her father General Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Civil War.

Betty’s love for Bruce could have made his development and transitions throughout the MCU easier on him. It could also help to avoid the awkward relationship between Bruce and Natasha from occurring, but it doesn’t seem as though the audience will be seeing any more of Betty any time soon.
