Particularly after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans have a lot of things to say when it comes to Star-Lord, not all of them popular.

Star-Lord as the leader of the Guardians Of The Galaxy in both the comics and in the MCU has fans that either love him or hate him. Whether fans believed him to be wrong in attacking Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War or do not find him funny, everyone has their opinions about the character and is more than happy to share them with the internet.

One would not expect a character such as Star-Lord would be so polarizing, but Reddit has its share of threads both in support of the character and against him.

10 Star-Lord Was Right In Avengers: Infinity War

Possibly one of the biggest debates of Avengers: Infinity War was whether or not Peter Quill was right to attack Thanos after learning during the attack on Thanos’s homeworld Titan that the (Thanos) sacrificed Gamora to obtain the Soul Stone.

One Redditor posted this opinion, explaining that it was ridiculous to have expected Peter not to react in the fashion that he did, considering the loss he has endured in his past, including both his mother and Yondu.

9 Peter Quill Is The Best Character Of The MCU

One Redditor tries to argue that Peter Quill, out of all the MCU, is the greatest character that the franchise has brought to the screen. Citing that his immaturity and sense of humor make the character of Star-Lord one of the greatest.

Others in the thread argue that while some say that Avengers: Infinity War ruined his character, arguing that if viewers look at Guardians Of The Galaxy and Vol. 2, Peter always makes the drastic play, and Infinity War is no different.

8 Chris Pratt Is Not Funny

This Redditor believes that the MCU made a big mistake in casting Chris Pratt as Peter Quill. The argument made is that the supporting cast are the ones that actually made the films funny and not Star-Lord.

However, other Redditors came to Pratt’s defense, citing that he works better in an improv setting than a set script.

However, this Redditor points out that even though, yes, Star-Lord made a rookie mistake when it came to Thanos, it also shows that he is flawed, and that’s okay!

They argue that making Star-Lord flawed adds to the appeal of his character because that it shows that while his father may be a planet, Peter, for his part, is very much human.

5 Why Star-Lord Shouldn’t Be Blamed

In this unpopular opinion on Reddit, this Redditor argues that Star-Lord actually isn’t the one to blame for the defeat with Thanos; it’s Nebula.

They make the argument that while, yes, Star-Lord was the one to start beating up Thanos, Nebula could have easily pulled Star-Lord off of Thanos or helped Iron Man and Spider-Man pull off the gauntlet.

4 If Star-Lord Had His Celestial Powers

This Redditor posed an interesting question on whether Star-Lord would be able to use his celestial powers against Thanos if he had them.

A Redditor responded that, while Star-Lord’s celestial powers in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 were powerful, comparing it to that of Superman, it wouldn’t have done anything against Thanos considering he had both space and reality stones at that point and would have nullified any powers that Star-Lord would have.

3 MCU’s Star-Lord Ruined Comic-Book Star-Lord

One Redditor posed a question that garnered a wide range of answers. Did the MCU adaptation of Star-Lord ruin the comic-book version of the character? One Redditor’s response was very vocal. In fact, yes, not only did the MCU ruin Star-Lord but the entire cosmic line.

The basics of their argument are that Star-Lord within the MCU has been turned into a “nitwit” when comic-book Star-Lord at least held a certain level of responsibility.

2 Doctor Strange Knew Star-Lord Would Attack Thanos

Another Redditor points out that if Star-Lord’s actions in Avengers: Infinity War were going to cost the Avengers to lose in the long run, that Strange would’ve stopped him. Doctor Strange had already looked at the over 14 million possible outcomes to find the one that they would win.

The Redditor argues that if Star-Lord’s actions were so bad, that it’d somehow destroy any chance that the Avengers could beat Thanos, Strange would’ve stopped him before he could start. But seeing that Star-Lord’s actions wouldn’t have made a difference, either way, he let him go ahead and attack Thanos.

1 Yondu’s Relationship With Quill Wasn’t Important.

One Redditor believes that his father/son relationship with Yondu doesn’t add anything to Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2, even though their relationship is one of the biggest parts of that film.

The argument they make is that writer and director James Gunn doesn’t add anything to their relationship in the second film, and it just makes that story repetitive and useless.
