Escue is one of the many bosses in Metroid Dread for players to find and beat. With Metroid Dread, players will spend a lot of their time exploring their environments and trying to use Samus’ abilities to discover new areas. As Samus begins to regain her powers, she will unlock the ability to unlock new paths to her ship on the surface. Along the way, players will face off against challenging bosses that can provide Samus with even more buffs to her move set. Escue is one of the toughest bosses in the game but before players can challenge it, they will need to find them first. This will require players to survive an E.M.M.I encounter in Metroid Dread, and these can be incredibly dangerous.
Escue is a fast-moving electric bug monster that can fly. It’s incredibly aggressive and can shoot out sparking projectiles that can damage Samus. It also essentially comes out of nowhere once the player encounters it for the first time. Escue can be found in the far right corner of the map on Ferenia. This is one of the final locations available in the game. Players will also need to make it past the purple E.M.M.I before they can reach Escue. They don’t need to defeat the E.M.M.I, the player just needs to make it outside of its zone. Make sure to use the Phantom Cloak ability when E.M.M.I get too close. Players can get the Phantom Cloak without the Spider Magnet if they play their cards right. This will make it much easier to avoid getting captured during an E.M.M.I encounter. After leaving the E.M.M.I zone, there will be a boss door. Shoot at it or counter it to unlock it.
This is the room where Escue is located. Players will want to have Ice Missles and Flash Shift at this point. Ice Missles do more damage when compared to their normal counterparts while Flash Shift makes it easier to avoid getting hit by Escue. This battle may take a few tries to understand its attack patterns.
How To Beat Escue in Metroid Dread
At the start of the battle, players will notice the only weak spot on Escue’s body is towards the bottom beneath its shell. This is where players will want to attack directly with the Ice Missles. Escue will have three different attacks to worry about. Unlocking the Morph Ball in Metroid Dread beforehand will make these attacks easier to dodge since it makes Samus’s hitbox smaller.
- Dark Ball: Escue will shoot a Dark Ball from its back. When it hits the floor, it will shock the entire ground. Use Flash Shift to avoid getting hit by it and jump when the shockwave hits the ground to avoid getting hit.
- Dash Attack: It will charge at Samus. To avoid this, get as far away as possible and aim for the corners. Jump out of the way when it charges and punish it with more Ice Missles.
- Projectile Spam: Escue will summon small but fast shots outside of its back. This is the most difficult move to dodge. Just stay on the other side of the room and jump over them to remove them.
When it is shining with electricity, this means it is immune to taking damage. Continue attacking it with Ice Missles until it falls in battle. Players will then be rewarded with Metroid Dread’s Storm Missle weapon for winning the battle.
