My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

Many DC and anime fans are ecstatic over superheroes in anime and the exciting new universes that are being created such as in My Hero Academia. This anime presents a fresh and interesting take on a superhero society that fans just can’t get enough of and introduces the idea of the Hero License, a license that heroes must earn to prove they are can meet the expectations required to be a hero. Applying this concept forward, fans can’t help but imagine whether or not heroes such as those from Zack Snyder’s Justice League would pass the test set forth by My Hero Academia and get their hero licenses.

Crushing the bad guys is all well and good, but what of the collateral damage? What of the will of the citizens they protect? Would the actions of DC heroes make them worthy of a hero license? Sometimes a hero can be worthy one moment, and not the next. Here are some instances for fans to consider.

10 Was Worthy: Wonder Woman Braves No Man’s Land

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

If there is one thing heroes from any superhero universe can agree upon it’s that heroes should be a ray of hope in even the darkest situations. In the DCEU film Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman sees, for the first time, a modern-day battlefield, and the sight is not pretty.

A village across the battlefield is running out of food with German soldiers capturing the people as slaves and the 100 yards in between the two opposing trenches has been deemed No Man’s Land as no man has been able to cross it alive. Luckily, Wonder Woman is no man. In a stunning action scene, Wonder Woman, still awakening to her powers and against the advice of her comrades, leads an epic charge across No Man’s Land, restoring hope to the people and soldiers of the area while limiting the loss of life drastically. These actions are more than enough to land Wonder Woman a Hero License.

9 Wasn’t Worthy: Batman Brands Criminals

The DCEU movies have definitely presented a darker take on the superheroes many fans grew up with. One of the darker changes includes Batman’s use of bat brand on criminals.

While Batman doesn’t do the killing himself, these brands ultimately result in the death of the wearer. It is consistently expressed in My Hero Academia that heroes are not the judge, jury, and executioner. While it has not been directly expressed in the anime or manga that heroes can not kill, fans see heroes such as All Might go through great lengths to make sure they capture villains so they can see justice rather than kill them. Yet, Batman goes to great lengths to see these criminals executed, earning his actions a major fail from My Hero Academia.

8 Was Worthy: Superman Saves A Child

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

Every League member is down and Superman has just managed to immobilize Doomsday after receiving an epic beatdown from the monster in the DCAMU film The Death of Superman. Superman has a chance to turn the tide of battle, but what does he do? He takes the time to save a kid about to be crushed by rubble.

This leads to a heartwarming scene where Superman smiles and tells the kid everything is going to be alright in exchange for a surprise hug. Not only does Superman give up his slight advantage to save a life, he does it exactly how All Might would have, with a steady voice and a smile. Anyone needing saving is having the worst day of their life, after all, thus Superman’s actions earn him a Hero License, hands down.

7 Wasn’t Worthy: Green Lantern Refuses Help

Teamwork is a very important standard set for heroes in My Hero Academia and ends up being the reason why Todoroki doesn’t receive his provisional hero license in season 3 of the anime. Green Lantern, apparently, didn’t get this memo. In the DCAMU film Justice League: War, Hal Jordan as Green Lantern traps Batman with his ring and refuses his help as he attempts to take down Superman without even knowing if he’s behind the attacks on the city.

Lantern later throws everything he has at Darkseid, once again denying help from the soon-to-be Justice League. These selfish and innocent endangering actions leave him with a broken arm, wounded pride, and without a Hero License.

6 Was Worthy: Batman Almost Dies Trying To Save Hush

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

Batman has always been scary and intense but rarely is he as bloodthirsty as we see him in the DCEU films. In Batman: Hush fans are treated to the indomitable spirit of Bruce Wayne as Hush stacks up murder after attempted murder of those closest to Batman while endeavoring to break the hero.

Yet, even when the chips are down and Hush is falling to his death as a factory collapses around him, Batman does everything in his power and is even willing to sacrifice his own life in order to save the villain. Catwoman’s intervention dooms Hush while saving Batman, to the hero’s dismay. He later argues that if someone needs saving, he has to save them, and Hush didn’t have to die. His absolute refusal to kill and intrinsic yearning to save those in need easily earns this Batman a Hero License.

5 Wasn’t Worthy: Robin Scares Civilians

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

Damian Wayne, the later holder of the mantle of Robin, is impulsive and unerringly arrogant concerning his own fighting abilities. While he definitely has the skills to be a professional hero, he does take down Superman, after all, he lacks the hero mentality much like one of My Hero Academia’s upstarts, Bokugo.

In the DCAMU film Justice League Vs. Teen Titans, Robin demonstrates his lack of empathy as he throws an exploding batarang in front of fleeing citizens to gain their attention and simply points towards where they should be running. As Batman checks in on Robin’s efforts at crowd control, Damian responds saying that, as expected, the crowd responds like contemptible sheep. Robin’s My Hero Academia counterpart, Bokugo, fails to earn his provisional hero license by portraying the same lack of empathy, thus Damian’s actions earn him a big fail from My Hero Academia.

4 Was Worthy: The Flash Saves Everyone

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

My Hero Academia puts a large emphasis on heroes using their powers for tasks they are best suited for while also emphasizing that the safety of innocents comes first. Often fans get distracted by the glamourous powers and legendary fights often seen in superhero universes and forget that heroes do more than just fight.

The Flash is one hero who is rarely ever seen not saving innocents. Whether it’s the DCEU or DCAMU, fans see Flash using his speed to its greatest effect as he pulls victim after victim out of danger with a smile on his face. These actions easily earn Flash a Hero License.

3 Wasn’t Worthy: Wonder Woman Decapitates Steppenwolf

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a refreshing take on the DCEU, but the darker tone of the movie also means darker actions taken by the heroes including one brutal beheading by the Amazonian Goddess, Wonder Woman. Steppenwolf is very obviously outmatched and defeated by the end of Zack Snyder’s Justice League yet the heroes hold no mercy for the villain as he is skewered and sent flying into Darkseid’s closing portal before being decapitated.

While this is one unyielding message to Darkseid, the actions of these heroes would not sit well with All Might and the world of My Hero Academia. Steppenwolf was most definitely capturable, and the violence in Wonder Woman’s actions help to blur the lines between heroes and villains, no matter how necessary the action seemed, earning Wonder Woman a fail.

2 Was Worthy: Green Lantern Rallies The Justice League

My Hero Academia 5 Times DC Heroes Were Worthy Of A Hero License (& 5 Times They Werent)

My Hero Academia loves to give heroes with potential a second chance, as Todoroki well knows. Soon after Green Lantern’s crushing defeat at the hands of Darkseid in the DCAMU film Justice League: War, with a little encouragement from Bruce Wayne, Green Lantern pulls it together and rallies the soon-to-be Justice League.

While his rallying speech could use some work, he manages to bring the League together and comes up with a plan that blinds Darkseid. This gives Batman enough time to free the captured Superman and, ultimately, leads the League to victory! Green Lantern overcomes his earlier mistakes and lives up to the standards of My Hero Academia earning him a Hero License.

1 When The Majority Of DC Heroes Weren’t Worthy

Class 1A in My Hero Academia is taught on their second day of classes that collateral damage should be kept to a minimum. All Might even gives props to Midoryia during his final exam for making sure to only break areas of the fake town that All Might has already damaged as a fake villain.

DC heroes, on the other hand, don’t seem to care what they break as they fight. Whether it’s Shazam throwing an Atlantian tank through a skyscraper in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Superman unnecessarily pounding Atlantians literally into the pavement during the same fight, or Wonder Woman blowing out an entire wall of a bank to stop one man in Jack Snyder’s Justice League, DC heroes love to break things without proper cause. Acts such as these earn just about every DC hero a fail at one time or another.
