Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

Most recently, Netflix unveiled the third season of the popular Spanish television series, Elite. This time around, we were faced with a new murder. And in the show’s typical flash-forward plot, each episode contained clues as to who died and how. While the storylines of some of our favorite characters progressed this time around, that of others came to an abrupt end.

Although Elite did a good job of delivering much entertainment in their third season, there remain a few plot holes in the show that are yet to be answered. Let us take a look at 10 different plotholes from the show that still make no sense.

8 Cayetana’s Family

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

Cayetana’s character and storyline added a lot of flavor to the second season of Elite. As she pretended to be wealthy and ran away from her reality as the daughter of a maid, fans continued to watch the series in anticipation of the moment Cayetana’s cover would be blown. While the latter occurred and she was exposed for it all, the storyline following her exposure completely motioned away from the state of her family.

We began to see the repercussion her lies were doing to her mother and the work opportunities she lost as a consequence. However, following the scandal which happened at the charity ball, where it was revealed that Cayetana made the whole thing up to help her mother pay for bills, we did not have any updates on her familial situation. Instead, the third season focused on her relationship with Polo and it appeared that she was living with him as well. The story left a major loophole that was not addressed at all in the third season.

7 What’s Next For Rebeca?

Rebeca was a newer character introduced to the series in the second season. As her story unfolded, it became increasingly clear that the sassy character’s family acquired wealth from a series of shady dealings including selling drugs and relevant illegal activities. The latter led to many troubles for both Rebeca and her friends. Eventually, her mother found herself locked up in jail for most of the third season until her eventual release.

In the third season finale, Rebeca begged her mother to stop all illegal business and “go clean.” The situation was not addressed further afterward, but from seeing Rebeca happily roaming through the halls of Las Encinas at the end of the episode–we can assume that the issue was solved. Yet, Rebeca’s mother was a powerful woman with a high rank in the drug business. One cannot expect that her transition away from the drug business will go smoothly. Indeed, we can certainly expect retaliation and other attacks from any attempts to step away. For now, this remains a plot hole, but we are hopeful it will be addressed in oncoming seasons.

6 Guzman’s Adoption

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

It was revealed in the series that Guzman was Marina’s adopted brother. And even then, a lot of fans of the show glossed over this detail completely as it was not introduced in the story as a relevant fact. Nevertheless, omitting the subject altogether left a loophole in the storyline. Who were Guzman’s birth parents and what was the story behind his adoption?

These types of questions have failed to be answered in any season of the show including the most recent one. Perhaps it will be explored further in future seasons as it has been announced that Elite was renewed for both a fourth and fifth season. And it would be no surprise for Guzman’s birth parents to make an appearance at some point.

5 Samuel’s Living Situation

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

Samuel was a hardheaded and loyal character. Driven by the numerous injustices he faced in his life and the moral challenges placed before him, the character stopped at nothing to ensure justice was served by any means necessary. It was revealed early on the show that Samuel’s mother was not always around and often left him and his brother to fend for themselves.

This became even more recurrent and prominent in later seasons of the show. Surprisingly, despite Samuel’s frequent communication with the police, the latter never caused any issues. In most of season 3, the teen was left by his lonesome in a home regardless of the legal implications such circumstances could imply. We may consider this storyline loophole to be an error of inattention as bigger elements were explored in the show.

4 Nano’s Debt

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

In the first season, Nano, Samuel’s older brother, got himself in a lot of trouble after his release from jail. As he attempted to do better this time around and stay away from trouble, it appeared trouble followed him wherever he went. While imprisoned, Nano made friends with individuals who offered him protection. Following his release, he was expected to pay back his for this said protection which came with the burdensome price tag of 40K euros.

We witnessed several attempts by Nano to pay back the debt including stealing a slew of expensive watches from Carla’s father to foot the bill. Following Marina’s untimely passing, the issue was no longer addressed. Considering Nano was imprisoned for a crime he did not do and then fled the country for several other reasons, the issue of the 40K debt was completely forgotten.

3 Lu’s Family

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

Lu and her incestuous relationship with Valerio were exposed in the finale of the show’s second season. It was further explored in the most recent and third season of the show with Lu finally admitting to her father that her relationship with Valerio was consensual. As a result, her father cut her off economically and put an end to their then-close relationship.

Following the explosive encounter, the show failed to address the aftermath of Lu’s relationship with her parents. Precisely, we got to see Lu’s mother in the first season and it appeared she had no objections to her father’s handling of the situation. While Lu did say she no longer had a family when questioned by Nadia’s parents at the airport in the third season’s finale, the story was not properly addressed. Hence, it remains a major plot hole.

2 Malick’s Love Triangle

Netflixs Elite 8 Plot Holes That Make No Sense

New character Malick made his appearance in the third season of the show as the son of a wealthy Senegalese businessman. At first, he began a loving relationship with Nadia. As the story unfolded, however, it was revealed that Malick was also attracted to Nadia’s brother Omar and the two began a secret love affair.

The inner goings of Malick’s infatuation with Omar were vaguely explored and this made for a major plothole in the storyline. Considering Malick first approached Nadia without seeing Omar until much later, several questions remain. Was Malick truly in love with Nadia or was he pretending to mask his homosexuality? Is he bisexual? Was he really in love with Omar? A slew of questions was left unanswered and viewers were given only shallow details with regards to this new character.

1 The NYU Scholarship

Once more circling back to the storylines involving Lu, the third season of the show revealed the existence of a scholarship funded by Polo’s parents which would allow for students of Las Encinas to obtain a full-ride to NYU. Following a fierce competition involving both Lu and Nadia, both students were awarded the scholarship which was divided into two. Such plothole, much like Samuel’s living situation, points at an error of applicability to the real world and previously stated facts.

New York University remains a very expensive university and even more so for international students. Considering the cost of scholarship would have financially supported one student, will it be enough for both Lu and Nadia to share? We see herein another opportunity for the show to fill in such a gap. Perhaps we will get to see Lu taking over a part-time job in the fourth season of the show–an idea that sounds hilarious considering her personality and familiarity with princess-like treatment.
