Mojang has introduced three new Minecraft mobs for this year’s Minecraft Live vote and players get to decide whether to add the Copper Golem, Allay, or Glare to the 3D virtual sandbox. Like last year’s Minecraft Live event, the game’s developers are enabling players to choose which new mob will be added to the game. Last year, Mojang had fans choosing between the Glow Squid, Iceologer, and Moobloom. Minecraft’s Glow Squid came out on top and was eventually added as part of the Caves & Cliffs Part 1 update. The new mob has the same character model as the original squid, but illuminates in the dark and drops Glow Ink Sacs which can be used to create a Glow Item Frame. Now a new mob is on the table and will be decided on during Minecraft Live 2021.

Minecraft Live 2021 will take place on October 16 and is set to begin at 12 PM ET or 9 AM PT. The annual event will be streamed via official Minecraft outlets such as its Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Twitch account. Minecraft Live 2021 will also be streamed on the Minecraft website and is said to bring the latest information on the Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update. Though Mojang has revealed quite a bit about the upcoming expansion to its popular virtual sandbox, the developers have kept some things in the dark. Like previous years, the Minecraft celebration will incorporate plenty of different panels and discussions regarding the voxel world, including a vote for the next mob being added to the game.

Mojang revealed all three new mobs fans can vote on during the Minecraft Live 2021 event. The list includes the Copper Golem, the Allay, and the Glare. Each passive mob brings a unique utility to the game, though only one will be added first after Minecraft Live 2021. The Glare was the first mob to be revealed and it will be especially useful after the Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update drops later this year. The update will adjust light levels for mob spawning. The Glare helps because when light levels are too low, the mob runs toward the edge of the light and begins hissing, indicating to the player that mobs can spawn.

The Allay was the next mob to be revealed. The mob will work for the player, collecting valuable items for them such as collectibles, blocks, or crafted entities. The Allay will then release what it has collected if the player places a music block. The final mob, the Copper Golem, is made out of copper and will oxidize over time. If the Copper Golem is chosen, Mojang will also release the copper button, though its exact uses are unknown.

All three of Minecraft’s new mobs are extremely diverse, which may make the vote extremely difficult. It’s possible that the vote will be a close call between the Glare, the Allay, and the Copper Golem. As for the chosen mob’s release date, it’s not clear when Mojang plans to drop the one that comes out on top. It took many months for developers to add the Glow Squid into the game, though it’s also possible that the new mob will drop alongside the Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update.
