After ample speculation, it’s been revealed that none other than Persona 5’s Morgana will be joining the cast of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania as DLC. The latest Super Monkey Ball game has been picking up a lot of momentum as it rolls towards its October release. This is thanks largely to a promising initial reveal during Nintendo’s E3 2021 showcase, but also to the continued push Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania has received from publisher SEGA through fun character reveals.

So far the roster includes all of the familiar faces from the franchise, but big-name guest characters are also joining the madness. For example, the first character confirmed to be crossing over into Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is Sonic – as well as his friend Tails. While that’s exciting enough, the crossovers have only snowballed in the time since. Now, it looks like SEGA is digging even deeper into its IP vault to deliver another fun Super Monkey Ball addition.

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, host Geoff Keighley revealed that the cat-like Morgana from Persona 5 would be the next crossover character in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. The new footage, which was uploaded to YouTube, confirms that Morgana will arrive as post-launch DLC on November 2nd. At that point, players can add the guest character to the game for $4.99 across all platforms.

Morgana joins the other range of crossover characters already featured in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. That list includes the aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails, Beat from Jet Set Radio, Kiryu from the Yakuza series, and even classic SEGA consoles. There are sure to be more characters joining the Super Monkey Ball madness leading up to and after launch as well, and the confirmation of paid DLC means that it’s likely more will follow Morgana.

Of course, it’s a bit odd that Morgana got the nod over Persona 5’s protagonist Joker. Still, there’s a strong chance that the leader of the Phantom Thieves will end up in a Monkey Ball sooner or later. It’s also funny to point out that Geoff Keighley has had strong ties to multiple Persona 5 crossover announcements now, given that he’s also the one that revealed Joker for Smash Bros Ultimate during the 2018 Game Awards. Here’s hoping that the trend continues, as it’s been fun to see unfold thus far.
