Pokémon BDSP How To Get The Pure Incense (& What It Does)

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are full of unique items for Pokémon to hold and make use of outside of battle, like the Pure Incense. It is uncommon for any item to have effects that can solely be used outside of battle, but Pure Incense is one of the few items that makes it work and worth finding. Additionally, players can also use Pure Incense for breeding Pokémon in the Diamond and Pearl remakes like all other Incenses.

Throughout the Sinnoh region, players will find nine different Incenses, each with its own specific purpose and additional breeding purpose. All of the Incenses are items to be held by a Pokémon, and they all have unlimited passive use. However, unlike all of the other Incenses, the Pure Incense is the only one of its kind that has no use in battle. However, for players looking to save some Poké Dollars on Max Repels, Pure Incense is a great alternative.

Pure Incense makes the appearance of wild Pokémon 33% less likely to happen, but only when the lead Pokémon is holding the Pure Incense. Unlike the Smoke Ball in Pokémon BDSP, the Pure Incense does nothing to help runaway from any wild Pokémon encountered. However, Pure Incense is still a great item to give to a Pokémon as players continue to explore the Sinnoh region, mainly if they’re using the Poké Radar or exploring an area that has wild Pokémon constantly appear, like a cave.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Pure Incense Location

Players can find Pure Incense in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl west of Ramanas Park on Route 221. From the entrance of Ramanas Park, head on the trail past the Honey Tree, then up towards the house with the blue roof. The house with the blue roof is also the same place where players can get the Focus Sash if they don’t want to spend BP in the Pokémon BDSP Battle Park item shop. A little further left of this house is a narrow patch of grass, and at the end of it is the Pure Incense. Although Pure Incense is not a hidden item in the grass, it is behind one of the trees and will prevent players from entering the last patch of grass.

Pure Incense also allows players to breed Chimecho to produce Chingling eggs when left in the Pokémon Day Care holding the item. Although Chimecho learns all the same moves as Chingling, Chingling learns a few moves like Last Resort and Entrainment as natural level-up moves. Conversely, Chimecho learns these moves by using a Heart Scale in Pokémon BDSP, so it’s a preference for trainers based on whether or not they want to use the Heart Scale resource on Chimecho.
