Pokémon Everything To Know About Legendary Regis Before Crown Tundra

Pokémon Sword & Shield’s The Crown Tundra DLC is set to release in just a few days, giving fans the chance to recapture many of their favorite legendary Pokémon that have previously appeared in the series. One group of legendaries being prominently featured in Pokémon Sword & Shield’s second DLC is the Regi’s. Originating in the third generation, the Regi’s have become one of the most beloved group of legendary Pokémon due to their somewhat awkward appearance and the convoluted lengths players would have to go to in order to catch them. The Crown Tundra will introduce two new Regi’s, Regieleki and Regidrago, but before that is the perfect time to explore the history of the original group.

The Regi’s are a group of three legendary Pokémon named Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, as well as their creator, Regigigas. According to lore, Regigigas is responsible for putting all of the continents in place. Afterwards, he created beings in his image out of an icy mountain, rocks, magma, and crystallized dragon energy, who then became the Titans, or the Regi’s as most fans have come to call them. Regigigas was eventually sealed away in the basement of Snowpoint Temple due to fear over its great strength. The other three Titans did the same, sealing themselves away in the basement of stone structures far away in the Hoenn region. Braille carvings were left outside of a sealed chambers in hopes that someone might be able to find these Pokémon once again and tame them.

Seeing as each of the Regi’s are sealed away in a temple-like structure, catching them is a bit of a process. Before players can even catch them though, their chambers need to be opened, which requires Pokémon who know the HMs Surf, Dig, and Dive. A Relicanth as well as a Wailord will also have to be in the party. In Ruby & Sapphire, travel to Pacifidlog Town, then use Surf and ride the currents West of the town. Eventually, players will find a patch of water they’ll be able to use Dive on. After diving under water, players will find a section of braille, and must dive up in front of it to reach the sealed chamber. In the back of the room, use Dig in front of another section of braille and it will open another area. Put Relicanth in the front of the party and Wailord in the back, and an earthquake will go off, opening the chambers of all the Regi’s.

How To Catch Regigigas

While the original three Regi’s first debuted in the third generation, Regigigas didn’t appear until the fourth, in Dimond & Pearl. In order to catch Regigigas, players will need all three of the other Regi’s first. In Dimond & Pearl, this required trading or transferring the other Regi’s from a previous game, but thankfully, that shouldn’t be an issue in The Crown Tundra. After collecting the Regi’s, players must travel to the Snowpoint Temple, find the basement, and the Regigigas statue will come to life. It wouldn’t be surprising to see The Crown Tundra have players go through similar lengths to catch the creator of the Titans.

It will be interesting to see how the new Regi’s, Regieleki and Regidrago, will fit into the story of the Titans. Some fans have theorized the two Pokémon could be game specific, so players with Sword will be able to catch Regieleki, while players with Shield will be able to catch Regidrago, or vice versa. Hopefully this is just gossip, as it’s more than likely players will need all of the Regi’s, including the two new ones, in order to catch Regigigas.

It should also be interesting to see how much of the original process remains in terms of catching the Regi’s. Relicanth is being added to the game in The Crown Tundra, while Wailord is already in the game. HMs are no longer in Pokémon, however, so there’s at least one less step. Either way, it’s going to be great being able to track down and free these legendary Titans once again.
