Ultra Unlock Part 3 has been officially announced for Pokemon Go. During Go Fest, Pokemon Go’s annual 2-day event, players were tasked with completing Global Challenges every hour. The entire community needed to come together to complete these challenges in order to unlock a special reward. Since the Pokemon Go community completed all 24 challenges within the time limit, Niantic has rewarded players with the Ultra Unlock event. This event has been broken down into 3 different parts, but the final of the 3 remained hidden, until now. Ultra Unlock Part 3 is built all around the Galar region, introducing Pokemon from Sword and Shield for the very first time.
It’s interesting that Niantic is completely skipping over Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Alola region as the next area to add to the game. Pokemon Sword and Shield were released years after these Nintendo 3DS titles. As with every new region, Niantic is releasing only a handful of new Pokemon, including the legendaries from the box art. There is a lot to look forward to for Ultra Unlock Part 3 when it occurs later this month. This guide will show players what they can do to prepare for Ultra Unlock Part 3.
Pokémon GO: How To Prepare For Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield
Pokemon Go’s Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield will take place from Friday, August 20th to Tuesday, August 31st. Here is how players can prepare for this event.
- Shiny Hunting: Players will be able to find Shiny versions of Galarian Meowth, Farfetch’d, Weezing, and Stunfisk. One of the best ways to obtain them is through 7km eggs, so make sure to stock up on incubators when the event arrives.
- Raid Battles: Both Zacian and Zamazenta will be added to the game as part of 5-star raid battles. They won’t be Shiny just yet, but players should aim to capture at least 1 of each of them during the event. Complete the Research Breakthrough and collect the Gift Box from the shop to begin stocking up on Remote Raid Passes.
- Timed Research: This event will also feature a new Timed Research task for players to complete. The exact details of these tasks have yet to be revealed, but they won’t be around for too long.
- Galar Uniforms: Players will be able to pick up the Gym Challenger Uniform for free during this event. It’s not often when Niantic provides free clothing options, so grab them while it’s hot.
It’s only a matter of time before Alola is introduced into Pokemon Go. It’s likely taking a bit longer due to the large number of legendary Pokemon available in that region. Regardless, the Sword and Shield event will be great for bringing in old and new players.
