Pokémon Go’s Mischief Unbound is the newest Special Research to join the game. It is broken down into 3 steps and gives players Hoopa Unbound.

Hoopa has returned to Pokémon Go with the new Mischief Unbound Special Research Tasks and its own set of rewards. As the game continues to evolve, more Pokémon are added with their own set of lore to discover. The same can be said about the legendary Pokémon, Hoopa. Hoopa was originally added to the game during GO Fest 2021 where the Pokémon tore holes in reality and summoned legendary Pokémon from all generations. After that, Hoopa was a part of the first-ever season, Special Research Task with Misunderstood Mischief, where players were able to catch Hoopa. Now, a new Special Research is available in the form of ‘Mischief Unbound’. Players looking to unlock Hoopa Unbound will need to complete this.

Players will need to purchase access to the Mischief Unbound quest from the shop. Players who have already completed the event can purchase the ticket to run it again. This is a great way for players to get more Hoopa candy. Not only that, but players will be able to transform their current Hoopa into Hoopa Unbound by the end of it. Like the end of Season of Mischief, Hoopa’s story in Pokémon Go is coming to a close.

Players can check their Special Research tasks from the ‘Special’ within their menu. The ‘Mischief Unbound’ Special Research is broken up into three different steps and completing the first one will unlock access to the next.

Mischief Unbound Special Research Tasks and Rewards in Pokémon Go

Mischief Unbound Step 1/3

• Take a snapshot of Hoopa: Reward: 1000 Stardust.
• Catch 20 Pokémon: Reward: x1 Lucky Egg.
• Spin 3 PokéStops of Gyms: Reward: 3000 XP.
• Rewards: x1 Incense, 1x Poffin, x3 Golden Razz Berry.

Mischief Unbound Step 2/3

• Make 7 Curveball Throws in a row: Reward: x1500 Stardust.
• Use 20 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Reward: x1 Star Piece.
• Complete 10 Field Research Tasks: Reward: 3000 XP.
• Rewards: x1 Incense, 1x Super Incubator, x3 Silver Pinap Berry, and ability to change Hoopa forms.

Mischief Unbound Step 3/3

• Earn 7 Hearts with your buddy: Reward: x2000 Stardust.
• Catch 20 different species of Pokémon: Reward: Premium Raid Passes.
• Win 3 raids: Reward: 4000 XP.
• Rewards: x50 Hoopa Candy, x10,000 Stardust, Hoopa T-Shirt Avatar Item.

After these tasks, players can transform Hoopa into Hoopa Unbound. Enter their menu, find Hoopa, and transform it there if they have enough resources. Hoopa is the first Pokémon in Pokémon Go that allows players to change a Pokémon’s form outside of Mega Evolution. Complete this Special Research Task to be rewarded with a special Hoopa avatar item.
