With the slightly rushed release of Pokemon Home on Nintendo Switch and Mobile devices (iOS and Android) trainers are already having issues connecting their Nintendo Accounts to the Pokemon Home mobile app, and this problem is seemingly caused by the way trainers are entering their password.

Game Freak already has a track record for buggy releases of Pokemon Mobile Applications. The frustration trainers are feeling towards Home not being able to smoothly transfer their Pokemon from Home to Sword and Shield is due to a technical error when attempting to link a Nintendo Account to their Home Mobile App. This problem is easily solved with a couple of workarounds.

Linking your Nintendo Account to Pokemon Home

At the moment, Linking your Nintendo Account to the Pokemon Home mobile app does not offer a player much in the way of functionality other than receiving a free Kanto starter (Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle) that they can then transfer into Pokemon Sword and Shield. However, it is still a neat idea to have your Pokemon with you wherever you go.

To link your Nintendo Account to Pokemon Home open the app and hit the menu button at the bottom of the screen. Select the “options” button and then select the option to link your Nintendo Account. From here you will be asked to log in to your Nintendo Account, and if all goes well you should be good to go. If not, here are some ways you may be able to fix this issue.

Enter your Nintendo account password manually in Pokemon Home

When attempting to link a Nintendo Account to Pokemon Home, a separate browser window will open asking trainers to login to their Nintendo Account. Thanks to modern technology passwords can now be stored on mobile devices and are automatically entered into some logins. This functionality is usually super helpful, however, it is the main cause of not being able to link Nintendo Account to Home.

Instead of having your device auto-fill the password space to login to their Nintendo Account, trainers will need to enter their password manually by typing out their password. If a trainer uses the auto-fill function they will be greeted with the message pictured above stating “Unable to log in using your Nintendo Account. Please check the Q&A for your Nintendo Account.”

This will work the majority of the time, however, there is still another issue trainers can run into when attempting to link their Nintendo Account.

Redownload Pokemon Home

If a trainer enters their password manually there is still a chance that Pokemon Home will alert the trainers telling them that their Nintendo Account is already linked to another Pokemon Home account. This could simply be because you have Pokemon Home open on your Nintendo Switch when you are attempting to login, or it could be another technical error.

To fix this error, delete the app and redownload it on your mobile device. During the startup process login to your Nintendo Account entering your password manually and you should be good to go.
