Pokémon Meets MCU What Team Would Each Avenger Have

As the protectors of Earth, the Avengers constantly face incredibly dangerous threats. They risk their lives for the greater good and always think of others before themselves. Their task is a hard one, and while they have each other, they could always use a couple of extra hands, to lighten the burden.

If the Avengers had a Pokémon team of their own, they’d become nearly unstoppable. Like any other trainer, they would form a close, strong bond with each Pokémon in their team. Fighting side by side, they’d face each and every threat that came their way, like Cap said, together.

10 Captain America

The de-facto leader of the Avengers, Steve Rogers is all about duty. Noble, heroic, selfless, and true, Cap is patriotism embodied. He’ll go to any length, and do whatever’s necessary to right a wrong and protect those he cares about. The greater good is always his priority.

For starters, Cap has a Braviary, because of how close the Pokémon is related to the United States. The rest of his team is composed of Pokémon known for their heroism and bravery. Therefore, he has a Stoutland, a Floatzel, an Arcanine, and a Gallade, which he can Mega Evolve. His ace, though, is his Dragonite, which he caught as a Dratini, and is his closest companion. He keeps it out of the Poké Ball, and together, they can face nearly any opponent.

9 Iron-Man

Smart, confident, suave, and more than a bit egotistical, Tony Stark is definitely one of a kind. The genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist is as caring as he is ambitious. He’s always looking for ways to improve human-Pokémon relationships, whether by inventing a more advanced Poké Ball or enhancing the Pokédex’s capacities.

Tony’s ace is his Scizor, a creature that reminds him of himself in the Iron-Man suit. The rest of his team includes both machine-like Pokémon and those known for their intelligence. He has a Genesect, a Magnezone, a Porygon Z, a Beheeyem, and finally a Golurk, a Pokémon he particularly likes and from which he took inspiration to create the Hulkbuster.

8 Hulk

Scientist turned destructive rageaholic Bruce Banner finds a lot of comfort in his Pokémon team. He relates more easily to them, and can even be around them without fear of hurting them. Whenever he’s not the Hulk, Bruce works tirelessly to develop new and better Potions, Antidotes, and other medicinal solutions to make life easier for his beloved companions.

Bruce has a couple of incredibly fearsome creatures in his team, like Gyarados, Pangoro, and the always enraged Primeape. He too has a couple of very intelligent, wise Pokémon, Slowking, and Lucario, who help him in his scientific endeavors. His ace is his Tyranitar, a Pokémon he playfully wrestles with whenever he turns into the Hulk.

7 Thor

Thor is a literal God. He commands thunder and stands as one of the most powerful members of the Avengers. He is, after all, out of this world, and protects all nine realms. He’s not much of a King, but is still brave and selfless, a true hero of legend.

Because of his status as a God, Thor has two Legendary Pokémon accompanying him: a Raikou, the literal representation of lightning, and a Thundurus. He runs an Electric-type team that includes a Heliolisk, an Ampharos, a Luxray, and an Alolan Raichu.

6 Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff is a woman with a lot of secrets. She’s spent years trying to wipe out the red in her ledger, haunted by the mistakes she made in the past. She’s notoriously private and has a hard time opening up to others. Because of this, her Pokémon become her closest companions, the ones she knows she can always depend on.

The Widow’s first Pokémon is a Ditto, which was given to her in the Red Room. As a literal shapeshifter, Ditto was the ideal companion for Black Widow. From there, she built a team that consists of an Absol, a Dragalge, a Medicham, and a Weavile. Her ace is her Liepard, a creature she can especially relate to.

5 Hawkeye

An infallible archer, Hawkeye is one of the best spies in the business. Facing world-threatening enemies with no superpower and only a bow and arrow, he’s also one of the bravest and most daring members of the Avengers. He can easily go to the dark path, but he’s proven time and again that he stands for what is right.

Clint’s main Pokémon is his Decidueye, an archer Pokémon with whom he shares more than a few things in common with. His team also includes a Toxtricity (they even had the same hairstyle for a while), an Arbok, a Gliscor, and a Nidoking, Pokémon that match the purple pallet of his classic costume. He finally has a Kangaskhan, to remind him of the importance of family.

4 Wanda

Perhaps the most powerful member of the Avengers, Wanda’s abilities are capable of altering reality. She performs magic, just like Doctor Strange, but is still untrained. Having lost so much in her life, Wanda really cares about and protects her Pokémon, and they protect her right back.

Her team is composed of a Zoroark, a Pokémon that enjoys creating illusions as much as she does, a Hypno, a Delphox, and both Umbreon and Espeon. Her ace is the super-powerful Gardevoir, capable of Mega Evolving. It is said Gardevoir can distort entire dimensions, something that makes her Wanda’s Pokémon counterpart.

3 Doctor Strange

Steven Strange has a terribly demanding and important duty. As the Sorcerer Supreme, he is the protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Deeply committed to his role, Strange is willing to sacrifice everything, and indeed anyone, to fulfill it. His ability to manipulate time also puts him above all other Avengers.

Doctor Strange’s ace is the almighty Alakazam, who he usually Mega Evolves. Xatu, who is also capable of seeing the past and the future, is another one of his closest and most trusting companions. Strange runs a Psychic-type team, that also includes Sigilyph, Starmie, Metagross, and a Calyrex that willfully joined him, knowing the two are destined to achieve great things.

2 Ant-Man

The charming and well-meaning Scott Lang would absolutely love his Pokémon. He played with them and his daughter, Cassie, for hours on end. When he went to prison, his team stayed under his loyal friend Luis’s care, but they always waited for him.

Ant-Man runs a Bug-type team built around his Durant. He also has a Beedrill, in honor of his partner, Hope, a Heracross, and a Yanmega. He has a Ribombee that Cassie gave to him, and an Orbeetle, which was gifted to him by his father in law, Hank Pym.

1 Spider-Man

The youngest member of the Avengers practically grows up surrounded by Pokémon. The lively and overachieving Peter goes out of his way to impress others with his training abilities. Were it not for his full-time superhero gig, he’d definitely want to be a Pokémon Master.

Peter’s first Pokémon was a Yamper, which has since evolved into a Boltund. His team includes all three main spiders, Ariados, Araquanid, and Galvantula, and a particularly friendly Oranguru. His ace is a Goodra, and the two can often be found training together on the rooftops of New York City.
