Through Mega Evolutions and leveling up, some un-evolvable Pokémon are surprisingly powerful. But which ones would trainers say are the best?

Out of the 898 revealed Pokémon, there are very few creatures that are not part of an evolutionary line. Evolving can make Pokémon stronger as they gain higher CPs and HPs, which, in turn, makes them better to battle with. However, some un-evolvable Pokémon are just as strong as their evolved counterparts.
Using Attack stats, players of the Pokémon games can assess how strong a Pokémon is and how much damage they can deal with physical attacks. While Legendaries, Mythicals, and Ultra Beasts cannot evolve, there are many ordinary Pokémon that would be a great addition to a trainer’s roster.
10 Dracozolt – 100 Attack Stat
Dracozolt is from Generation 8. It is a dual Electric-Dragon Fossil Pokémon that has not yet debuted in the Pokémon anime, but its Sword and Shield Pokédex entries indicate that it was “unbeatable” when it was alive back in ancient times due to its strong legs.
In the games, Dracozolt has an attack stat of 100, the same as Mew, and a base stat of 505. Its speed can be increased using a sandstorm via the hidden ability Sand Rush, making this Pokémon strong and swift. Dracozolt should certainly be considered an underrated Fossil Pokémon and it will be fun to see it finally appear in the anime.
9 Mawile – 105 Attack Stat
Mawile is from Generation 3. It was introduced as a Steel-type Pokémon, but as of Generation 6, it is a dual-type Steel-Fairy Pokémon. This Pokémon has appeared many times in the anime, and on one occasion Ash’s Pokédex stated that Mawile is capable of crushing through steel beams with its jaws.
Mega Mawile has an attack stat of 105 and a 480 base stat. Normal Mawile has a base stat of 380, which is less impressive. However, its Pokédex entries from the games illustrate a Pokémon that would be a very formidable foe, stating that Mawile is violent, cunning, and “can turn a boulder to dust.”
8 Bouffalant – 110 Attack Stat
Bouffalant was introduced in Generation 5. It is a Normal-type Pokémon with an attack stat of 110 and a 490 base stat. To compare, its Kanto counterpart Tauros has an attack stat of 100 and 490 base stat, but Bouffalant narrowly beats Tauros since the former has a base HP of 95 compared to Tauros’ 75. Bouffalant has a much higher defense, although it lacks speed.
Bouffalant’s Pokédex entries state that it is an unstoppable force, able to crush cars with a headbutt and send speeding trains flying. Bouffalant is the only known Pokémon to be able to learn Head Charge, which damages the opponent but Bouffalant will suffer recoil damage from the attack.
7 Druddigon – 120 Attack Stat
The ferocious-looking pure Dragon-type Druddigon has a 120 attack stat with a total 485 base stat. This Pokémon looks slow, due to its heavy body and skin that is harder than rock, but it is actually very speedy and, according to the Pokédex, can swiftly race through narrow caves, showing off its dexterity.
Druddigon stands out among Dragon-types as the only non-legendary pure Dragon to not have any evolutionary forms. However, Druddigon is the only Dragon-type that naturally has the Rough Skin ability, which harms its opponent when Druddigon is attacked.
6 Sawk – 125 Attack Stat
Sawk is a pure Fighting-type that is often found isolated in the mountains training its strength. According to the Pokédex, its punches get more powerful when it ties its belt, taking the fight seriously. Sawk also has a 125 attack stat and a 465 base stat.
Throh, the counterpart to Sawk, has the same base stat of 465, but Throh’s attack is lower at 100. Their Kanto counterparts, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, both have lower attack stats than Sawk too.
5 Heracross – 125 Attack Stat
Heracross is a dual Fighting-Bug type, and in the anime, was the first Pokémon that Ash Ketchum caught in the Johto region. Ash’s Heracross is extremely powerful, able to easily throw machines made by Team Rocket into the air.
Already one of the best dual-type Pokemon, Heracross was massively buffed in Generation 6 to accommodate its Mega form. The buff took its usual 125 attack stat to 185, and its usual 500 base stat rose to 600 to match Mew. This just shows that Mega evolutions are seriously powerful in the Pokémon universe.
4 Kangaskhan – 125 Attack Stat
One of the most underrated Normal-types in Pokémon, Kangaskhan is a powerful but overlooked creature. Kangaskhan has a base stat of 490, but its Mega evolution compensates with a 125 attack and 590 base.
In the anime, Kangaskhan is shown to be fast on its feet and extremely protective of its child, viciously lashing out if they feel that the baby is threatened. The Pokédex states that Kangaskhan will protect its child at all costs, however, the Mega evolution enables the baby to jump out of the pouch and ferociously battle alongside its parent.
3 Aerodactyl – 135 Attack Stat
The Rock-Flying type Fossil Pokémon Aerodactyl is introduced in the anime as a threat, kidnapping Ash and flying off with him, presumably to eat him. Aerodactyl’s “saw-like” teeth can chomp right through a Steel-type’s armor, and it is notoriously irritable in its many anime appearances.
Aerodactyl has a base stat of 515, almost reaching legendary heights, but the Mega evolution rockets the Pokémon past Mew, with a 135 attack stat and 615 base stat. In the anime, making Aerodactyl a Mega evolution causes the Pokémon to become even more irritable than usual and leads to a lot of chaos.
2 Absol – 150 Attack Stat
The elegant Dark-type Absol emits a terrifying aura that can cause its enemies to cower in fear or go into shock. Absol is often referred to as a “harbinger of doom” thanks to its ability to predict disasters and is considered in the anime to be unlucky.
However, this doesn’t stop characters such as Drew and Goh from training them, as they recognize Absol’s immense power and skill on the battlefield. Absol has a base stat of 465. Mega Absol has 150 attack and 565 base, meaning that opponents should be careful when confronting it
1 Pinsir – 155 Attack Stat
Pinsir is a pure Bug-type Pokémon with surprisingly high stats. Its 125 attack and 500 total base stats rise during Mega evolution to 155 attack and 600 base. Bug types are often viewed as one of the worst kinds of Pokémon due to their many weaknesses, but Pinsir defies logic and somehow creates one of the strongest Mega evolutions.
Mega Pinsir has the highest attack stat of all non-legendary Flying Pokémon and can lift enemies up to 10 times heavier than itself while flying. This is pretty impressive for a Pokémon that, in its first appearance in the anime, couldn’t even crush a Metapod between its horns.
